G'Day and thanks for travelling from Sydney to visit our fantastic Outback! We're happy you enjoyed the whole experience and thank you for your recommendation. Smithy.
We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on the Thompson river the crew were friendly the food was delicious and the sunset was awesome highly recommend to do this if your in Longreach my husband and I had a wonderful time and it's great value for money
The Thompson River Cruise was beautiful and so was the sunset, it really helps you take in Australian outback scenery. We really enjoyed dinner at Smithy's. We ate dinner under the stars, around campfires with a some nice live singing at the front. The only thing I didn't quite enjoy was the food..
September 2014 we joined Alan on his tour to Longreach. it was fantastic, Alan was great and we had a good group on his bus. Everything was a highlight to us but the Smithy's Outback Dinner & Show was unbelievable and topping it off Tania & Ray put the icing on the evening. I recommend to all to take a look at his trips and go on one at least or all of them . cheers Brian & Virginia
My wife and I were 'tourists', when we arrived in Longreach on Sunday 24th and departed Thursday morning Aug 28th.We had a great time with Outback Aussie tours:.• Alan and David were punctual, friendly and informative• Vehicles were clean and comfortable• Included tours were very interesting and informative, particularly the Qantas Museum and associated tour, Waltzing Matilda museum, and the Strathmore Station Smoko tourIf anything, they might have added a bread roll to the Outback dinner. We will recommend the company and its tours.
Went on a river cruise up the Thomson River on theM.V. explorer. Had drinks, watch the sum set behind the trees and then progressed on to a nice place in the middle of the bush called Smithy's for some dinner and entertainment ( 2 course meal with tea and damper to wash it all down with ) was a really good evening out and we got picked up from where we were staying which made it easy. Would do it again
ALAN SMITH runs a very fine tour company. I rode twice in a truck/bus, once to the river for a sunset cruise and the second time for an all day trip from Longreach to Winton. Alan is gracious, enthusiastic, very attentive to his guests and knowledgeable on the land and life in the outback. The highlight of the 2 tours was visiting the Dinosaur Centre in Winton. This ia a world class presentation of major dinosaur finds with superb, well informed guides and an ongoing discovery of new finds - all discovered within the past 15 years. Not to be missed
Whilst in long reach we booked the sunset cruise on the Thomson river and dinner afterwards. We thoroughly enjoyed the night. We were picked up from our accommodation by a friendly bus driver and driven to where the cruise departed. Cruise was enjoyable and relaxing. Nibbles were included and drinks were available for purchase from the bar. During the cruise the boat stopped so we could view a magnificent sunset. Then we continued cruising to smithys where we were served dinner at the riverside camp. We were served a very tasty two course meal before being entertained by the Kernaghans. Great music and singing. To end the night we were served billy tea and damper with spreads. We were then driven back to our accommodation.
A visit to the Australian Age Of Dinosaurs with Smithy,s Outback Tours was an amazing experience. We learnt about the amazing animals that inhabited the outback 95 million years ago and were shown how they extract the fossils from the ground and the painstaking process in preserving them. Smithy and the crew provided a spectacular sunset bar-be-que and drinks from atop the mesa as we watched the sun sink over the horizon. All aspects of the tour were first class and very enlightening. We would not hesitate to recommend this experience to anyone wanting to learn more about our magic land.
G'day and thanks for your lovely endorsement of our Drover's Sunset Cruise. We're all looking forward to an exciting new season cruising down the Thomson River followed by Smithy's Outback Dinner and live show. Thanks again Smithy
