The old harbour is full of charm and poetry .The best moment to visit it is right after sunset for breathtaking photos when the sky is not black yet but deep dark blue!Old sails boats remind us of flamish paintings from the 18th and 19th Century.
this is a brilliant area to walk around on a sunday when you want to avoid the shops and crowds in Rotterdam. There are buildings and boats to view and on a cold winters day you will be able to make some great photos, sometimes with mist or that icy blue glow to the sky. well worth the effort.
Really enjoyed the trip on "Spido" a 75 min river trip explaing all about the area of rotterdam and the role played by the many waterway systems.
Nice location near the water. When the weather is good it is fine place to sit on the terras in the sun and enjoy a drink or meal.
The old harbour is the picturesque area near the river, where the White House (once the tallest building of Europe) sits. Also, the "Pencil" and the Cube Houses can be found here (close to the new Markthal). An old shipyard adds to the charm.
Another very quaint area to stop by for a coffee - not far from markthal so lots to see in this sector! Also get on your bike and loop out riverside from here onto the 2010 Tour De France route and over Erasmus bridge!
Great view and a wonderful place to be in a sunny summer sunday. You can relax at one of the restaurants near the harbour.
A nice destination when walking around Rotterdam , nice terrace around for a cup of coffee, a lot of old boat and equipment still available
Pleasant small harbour with traditional boats. As well as some good sights in the surroundings, there are many nice cafe's around the harbour for drinks or lunch.
A recommendation if you are there to make nice pictures. We were there in the evening and the lights were pretty but the abandoned ships were quite freaky! There are a couple of restaurants but for us no one really stood out. In the area there are also buildings that look like tulips: you can actually live within them and they look awesome.
