Its truly a country store very much like travelling back in history and then finding just the right thing for your house or a gift. What they sell sparks memories of things that are part of your life and seems to convey that feeling so well. Even the special candy and fudge they sell fits that description. Take in the store, browse slowly and its hard to leave w/o finding something beautiful, meaningful and perfect to enjoy for years.
Delightful old time variety and sweets store-very nostalgic. Lots of take home souvenirs. Loved the benches out front-one labeled Democrats and the other Republicans.
I LOVE going to this candy store. I love the caramels and the gummy sharks. The new product 'life-size gummy snakes' are ok, but not the best. when going here, be sure to hit the homemade chocolates :)
This store will give you a nostalgic vibe. It is a fun place to visit. If you visit in the warmer months be sure to go around back for a view of the pond. Inside the store there is an interesting assortment of items, local items, unique items and more. The candy store is a must stop when visiting.
This store gives you the feeling of the old days. It has a lot of charm. It is a great souvenier shop for those that visit. The best thing about this store is the attached candy shop. It has everything that you can remember you had as a child. The older you are the more memories you will have of all of these candies. I can remember candy cigarettes, taffy and razzles. It is such a great place to visit. We always shop here when we are waiting to for our table at the adjacent Stephen Anthony's Restaurant which is another gem. It is always crowded for breakfast because it is so great. I recommend both highly.
The country store carries more merchandise than you might imagine from the outside. A super place to get holiday items, including ornaments and stocking stuffers. The candy store that is connected is amazing. The gamut here runs from what used to be called "penny" candy to bars of milk or dark chocolate to Pez to some of the old-time brands you haven't seen in years. Great service in both sides of the house. Plenty of parking.
When I was little we used to go there and get penny candy, things aren't quite a penny anymore but still a fantastic place to visit and a great place to find old New England items.
Came upon this store while in the area. It was very nostalgic and loved shopping here. They also have some Collectibles I their store. Old fashion candy in half of the building. Took me down memory lane. Bought a few items to share with my grown children to bring back some great memories and to introduce to a new generation (my granddaughter). When I come back to this area in November I will be sure to stop here again.
Do not go on an empty stomach, because you will be tempted by everything from maple syrup candy to oldtime goodies to sugar free/nut free sweets. Gifts for all price ranges and tastes, including top of the line truffles and barks. Next door you can find souvenirs, including local pottery and baked goods. Plenty of parking, well worth the visit.http://www.waysidecountrystore.com/candystore.htm
I've been going here for over 50 years and recently visited with a 90-year old friend, who was like a kid in a candy store (there is a "penny" candy store attached). It's a great, little gift shop with some nostalgic items, as well as uniquely, New England items, such as soup crackers from Westminster, Massachusetts, and Vermont maple sugar candy and maple syrup. Outside are benches designated for "Republicans" and "Democrats". I especially like to go there around Christmas time. I routinely visit the candy store for rock candy drink stirrers.
