Visited for the first time last summer and had such a great time brought friends back. On both occasions the tour was conducted by Rod but was by no means stale the second time around. These guys are passionate about their craft and are able to share their love of brewing through an informative yet fun tour and tasting. Rod touched not only on the brewing process but the how and why flavors are perceived as they are. The beer's pretty damn good too! Purchases available at their bar and for take home.
We had to show a picture ID and get a hand band before we started the tour. The tour guide was great with his knowledge of beer and taste of beer. He gave us a quick lesson and let us smell the different hops they used. He showed us the tanks, the cooler and the filling process. We tasted the beer during the tour. A great tour with some great beer that we tasted. It lasted about 40 min. You could buy some of their beer to take with you.
It was a cold rainy Tuesday we were looking for something to do and came cross this breweryThe craft beer is really good I had a brown ale and my husband had the Lilly very smooth not bitter but high ABV so be careful. The owner was there that day took the time to give us some history about his beers and how long they have been in business really nice man. If you like craft beer this is the place to come.
If your in town and looking for something non-touristy and a great time this spot has it all. Roddy will show you around and give a knowledgable tour and be your bartender afterwards. The brewery offers free tours on Tuesday and Thursday at 3:15 and the bar opens at 4:30...definately stop by if your in town.
I'm a wine drinker and ended up buying 64 oz. of the October fest brew. The tour was informative and fun. Rod's knowledge and personality were a warming welcome to a cold and dreary day.
My husband and I are from Michigan and celebrating our 20 year anniversary. So we found this place on TA and thought it sounded cool. We followed our GPS and it takes us to a scary old industrial drive with a lumberyard and old buildings. We assumed we were in the wrong location...until we see a small sign in a junk cluttered area. We left. Then, as we were driving, I read the TA reviews again and we went back. We got out if the car and was walking in with only young 25 year old guys...we said forget it and walked back to the car. On our way back, we noticed a foursome of clean normal middle aged people walking in so we went in. It was the COOLEST thing we did in Myrtle Beach! Awesome beer, fun atmosphere and exceptionally friendly service! This is the perfect example of not judging a book by its cover!
I have loved this place for years (as this is my third review if this place)! I absolutely LOVE the staff, love the limited release beers and love the tour. For 4 years my girlfriends and I have been enjoying this bar everytime we get to MB. But now they are TOO crowded and they don't even have beer at the bar. I waited entirely to long for my beer. My bartender was great but having to run all over for a few beers would take several minutes. Plus the bar tender would have to queeze through the packed room with all the brewskis. We got tired of waiting and left after 2 rounds. Maybe they aren't always that busy. We will give them one more chance this summer when we come back. I hope this isn't my last 5-star review of this place. It should be a 3-star but the other times we were here were awesome. Seriously New South, you have the croud, the customer base and great staff, you obviously have the money coming in, SO UPDATE your bar.
The outside was a little scary, but don't let it fool you. The beer is excellent and staff is great. We will be coming back whenever we are in Myrtle.
My husband and I are regulars here and we love everyone here. Make sure to stop by on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the tour and taste some great local beer. And now thanks to the SC legislature getting it right, after the tour you can hit the tap room and have a pint of your favorite and take some home in a six pack or growler. You can also pick up a New South T-shirt or hoodie, glassware, as well as locally made soaps and beef jerky made from their beer. Their regular lineup are all great beers (especially the Nut Brown and the White) but their specialties are phenomenal! Try the Lilly the Great in the bourbon barrel if you can get it. It only comes out once a year and it goes fast. The 2014 was to die for! They usually have food trucks out front on Fridays if you need a little food with your beer. The service is great, Rod and Ally are always fast and friendly and you can find Dave floating around too on most nights. We come here so much I consider them all family! This is a great place to visit for both locals and tourists and we are there about once a week. A definite must stop if in the MB area.
Fabulous talk tour and tasting. Found New South Brewery on TA and suggested to 4 friends to join us on the tour. Roddy was very knowledgable and personable. Had a great time.
