Stopped in on a visit to nearby Poconos. Found the wines here to be pretty good. Some better than others, but none were bad. The offer a free tasting for 8 of their roughly 15 wines. They have good dry whites and red, and some good sweet fruit wines as well. The tasting takes place in the basement of an old barn. It's a pretty cool spot. Would like to get back up there on a cool fall day and hang around drinking a bottle of their apple cinnamon wine. Prices are reasonable and I'll bet you will leave with at least one bottle. Servers are super friendly, and know the wines well.
I loved their wine. Great view and very friendly staff. I have never had wine that fruity. I had the best time at this winery! Spanish Passion is the best!
OK so if you are looking for a Napa or Italian upscale wine then you wouldn't be happy with a trip to Westfall but this is NJ wine. Wine is left to personal taste. I will say that I like a few of their wines and there are a few that I don't care for but they also have some very interesting wines and the staff is very friendly. They have some fun events for wine tasting throughout the year and it is a beautiful area.
We did a wine tasting here a year ago and came looking for an orange chocolate wine that we had purchased. Unfortunately, they no longer had it. I didn't care for the reds but we purchased several nice bottles of the whites. The Peach Chardonnay was especially nice. Very friendly people all. A pleasant day trip diversion.
Went to Westfall Winery for the Music Fest and Southern BBQ event. The food and wine was amazing! Their staff was super nice and they really knew wine. We would recommend a day trip for anyone interested in spending the day in the picturesque countryside of Northern New Jersey. A special thanks to the "Duke", Loren and Georgene Mortimer for putting on such a GREAT event.
We went to the Westfall Winery on Saturday, August 2nd and to our surprise there was an awesome band playing called The Hallow! There is nothing better than spending a beautiful summer day outside drinking amazing wine, listening to ROCKIN tunes and taking in the majestic views New Jersey has to offer. We would totally recommend the Westfall Winery to anyone who likes supporting local NJ wineries. Cheers!Bertha & Peggy O
I decided to spend the afternoon with a girlfriend I hadn't spent time with in a while. We went out for lunch then headed to the winery. It's a small facility as far as space for tasting. However, that's the ONLY small part. The property was sprawling with cows on the other side of the fence and horses in the barn where the restrooms were. I felt it to be a working farm, painfully neat, that just happens to make and share wine. We were surprised to find that tastings were FREE. I've paid as much as $7 at other local wineries for only 5 samples. Westfall allowed up to 8 free samples out of 11 wines. There is a lovely little polished granite "bar" where the tastings are conducted. The wines were dispensed by lovely women full of knowledge and spirit! They made the afternoon a lot of fun! Their website said "bring a picnic basket" so we did. Cheese, fruit and chocolate! The entertainment was perfect for that type of place.A one man acoustic band who's playlist spanned 2 generations and at least 3 genres. There were families with dogs and children enjoying the afternoon. There are several tables with umbrellas provided but it could easily fill up, so bring your own chairs, just in case. Since you can bring everything (except the wine, of course) with you, this is a fun afternoon with minimal expense. I will become a regular!
We got to taste several wines but nothing to write home about. Always enjoy tasting though!! Other wineries in the area are lots of fun!
Off the path, but WELL worth it!!! Kathy and Jill were wonderful ladies!!! Great farm! Small vineyard with great wines!!! Very laid back and an easy place to just be! Take some cheese and crackers and sit around and enjoy! Pet friendly is a huge plus!!! Got to meet the owner of the property and here a bit of his history! Worth it to stop by and grab a couple or 12 bottles of fantastic wine!!! Thanks ladies!!!
Great tasting room with servers that make you feel you are catching up with old friends. Free tasting, and everyone should find something they will like. Great story about the barn and an underground railroad stop!
