I was visiting a friend who lives not too far from the Montclair Museum. We wound up going in just to see what was showing. She is a member and suddenly remembered there was an opening. Their exhibits are always well mounted, and their permanent exhibits are also worth a look. This time with some wine. Fun!
I've been to the Montclair Museum several times. I like that they feature a different exhibition a few times a year. The volunteers and workers are always very friendly and helpful. They also offer different events in the evening depending on the season.
Interesting installations for adults and children. Native American art , great atmosphere and events that include the community are always a lot of fun.
One of the best little museums in the metro area. Celebrated 100 years of American art. Free first Thursdays is the place to be to celebrate art and culture.
This museum is quiet, with a lovely permanent collection. We've also enjoyed some amazing special exhibits. Well worth a visit!
Thanks 973rooster! Montclair is a great town to be a part of.
I found the museum on trip advisor so we checked it out. It was a nice evening. We visited first Thursday, which was free admission. There were several different events going on at once inside and outside. Each person enjoyed the museum in a different way. I would have enjoyed more music and more food.
I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your visit. Kids (under 12) are always free at MAM and we offer a variety of family-friendly programming, which you can find on our website. I hope you give us a second chance!
Thanks Jeremy! Be sure to check out our calendar for an updated list of events: http://montclairartmuseum.org/calendar. We hope to see you soon!
Attended their "First Thursday" event. Enjoyed a glass of wine while listening to a local college group. Overall a rather enjoyable event, and look forward to returning.
