there is a nice area to walk around about 2.5 on a big loop if you start at steton farms and walk to the lake and back. nice for roller blading and bike riding.
Excellent paved flat trails (blue, red and yellows) with tons of shades. We were recently located from PA and our daughter has enjoyed riding her bike in this pleasant place very much. However, she wishes the trails a little more challenging. The fall foliage must be pretty here!
Great community county park. This park has horse trails, pond, walking areas, great bicycle trails. The woods has large beech and tulip trees. There is excellent ground covers in the forest as well.
We go here quite often. The paths are great for biking, inline skating, boarding, etc for all ages. Nice for picnicing too. Pick up something at a local place and bring your blanket. The paths connect to many other local parks.
Multi-purpose paved trail, most shaded. Even though the parking lot is almost full, you don't really see people within your sight most of the time. I was biking in the mid if morning, it was beautiful with winding road, breeze and the mist from rain.
Years ago, we brought our children and our bikes to Loantaka often to ride the paved bike trail through the woods from one end of the park to the other. It was beautiful then, and still is. 20+ years later, my wife and I now walk the bike path and enjoy it just as much. It is a peaceful breath of fresh air, truly one of the hidden gems in NJ.
Horses, bikes, walkers, rollerbladers, soccer and baseball fields are all welcome at Loantaka. It runs from South Street in Morris Twp. all the way to the Green Village Post office. There are several parking areas. There is a kid's jungle jim and a gazebo for picnics. There are actually two trails here, one is paved and the other is dirt and gravel. Both entire trails are flat, so it would be rated easy for anyone to use. A majority of the trail has tree cover. There is a pond and a brook which runs through the whole park. It is clean and safe. I bring my dogs here, but don't allow them to swim, as I don't think the water quality is good, because there is a sewage treatment plant nearby.
Really nice park with lots of room to roam and a lovely hiking/horse path. Kids love to stop at the pond to watch the geese. You might encounter a horse while walking and that's fun, too.
Just be warned it can be a little crowded in there on warm days. This is also a great place to bring your dog with you!
Great place to get away from civilization for a bit. Relax in the open field park and walk the trails to the Great Swamp.
