Mt Isa at dusk is really quiet amazing, the lights across the town and the mines is truly awesome. For such a mining orientated town, pretty isn't really the first word you think off, but a the lookout at that time of day it really was. Glad we took the time to go up there at the end of a long travel day!
As we were late for dinner we did miss the sunset as planned from here, but the night city views and all the lights, the mine works is still worth the stop here for a view. the turnoff is located just across the road on the right hand side from the Outback at Isa.
Easy access by road and ramps to viewing platforms. Great outlook of town and mine. Spectacular at dusk and evening.
We got wonderful views and photos of the sunset and also Mt Isa mines at night. It was very worthwhile and a popular spot.
To see this sight in day light is good but to see it at night is something else. The mine is lit up at night so it gives you a whole new perspective.
What a great little lookout they have in Mount Isa. It is quite surprising that the mine is actually so close to the city centre and the lookout provides good context for its size.
A real good viewing point for the mine works and the city. Was nice to have lunch there on under cover seating provided. Nice cool breeze too
If what you're after is a view of The Isa then look no further than this free lookout. Complete with views of the rodeo grounds, airport, power station and, of course, the mine, what more could you possible want! Also includes covered eating area and famous "sign post of many places"
Nice place to look out over the town in nearly all directions to look at landmarks (mines, rodeo grounds, city, power station etc). Great sign post showing direction and distance to capitol cities of the world. Has a ramp. Has a couple of picnic seats/shelters. A shame people make a mess & vandalize there.
Great place to see this wonderful place, especially at night with the mine lights looking a bit like Christmas all year.
