Nearly 1000 years of history compressed into small place and less than an hour experience :-)Accessible part of the castle itself, as mentioned several times, is quite small in size (portion of it is closed to public - it belongs to Catholic Church and serves to their purposes). Anyway, you go there for the view.We were surprised how beautiful church we found inside - it is really worth visiting.Very interesting part is the museum - again, it is quite small (actually very small), but packed with history - golden and silver chalices, documents from 11th century...And on top of everything, it is nice walk :-)
Well worth a visited for the views alone. The site you can go around is not that large, but you have panoramic views of Nitra, there is also an interesting Church you can go into as well.
It's an intresting place in the city Nitra. It is situated not far away from the centrum so its easy to reach. There is planty of green grass and nice places to take photos ant to buy small gift as a souvenir for the friends. i'd like to go back there even to have a coffe break . To stay out side in the sun
Beautiful castle, nice views, atmosphere, statue of Corgon and John Paul II.,heart of city, very nice church.. etc
Walk the stairs leisurely, feel the atmosphere, look at the student priests in long black robes carrying books but talking all the time on the cellphone. The renovations are beautiful.
This beautiful castle is full of history. There is so much to see. Even Pope John Paul 2 went to visit it. Actually the whole town of Nitra is stunning, historic and full of culture.
Very nice castle in the middle of the city, a bit of an uphill walk, but nice views of the city and the hills around are worth it. Small entrance fee of 30 cents.
I went to Nitra to compete in the world championships of natural bodybuilding and we had an amazing local friend give us a tour around the beautiful town. We came right in the middle of summer so the weather was amazing, shirts and tshirts and he took us up to the castle and into the church and everyone was amazed. Can not believe this is not known worldwide and visited by loads of tourists, a beautiful well preserved castle on the hill with a functioning church inside full of so much wealth it was quite astounding to witness, then the view of the city/town and surrounding area from the top was incredible. I feel privileged to have been to such a beautiful place steeped in history that is not well known and kept by the locals as their treasure.
Well worth a visit, it has a good view of Nitra and has been well refurbished, enjoyed the museum. The cathedral is quite amazing inside.
The castle has brilliant history and makes for a lovely trip.I went a few years ago during winter and it had a fairytale quality to it
