The Newark City reservoir features a picturesque view of this small town, and a relaxing lake atop a modest hill. Ample free parking below allows access to a gently sloped asphalt trail up to the rim of the reservoir. The path encircles the lake, and offers a few benches and access to some of the beautiful wooded trails of White Clay Creek Park, but no other facilities such as picnic grounds, drinking water or rest rooms, except for a porta-john at the top. A simple, clean, safe getaway from downtown.
This is a really nice area to walk around. I really enjoyed taking some pictures there around sunset!
A great place to walk. This is truly special because of its uniqueness. Don't be intimidated by the uphill (well steady incline). It's worth the walk up to get to the reservoir which is lovely. The view from the top, including the old paper mill is outstanding. Feels like the country.
Nice place for a walk or a bike ride. It can be very windy and either hot or cold.. Dress in layers!! Be sure to secure your belongings out of view and lock your vehicle. Unfortunately there have been a few thefts from vehicles in the parking lot. You can divert away from the reservoir and enjoy the trails through the woods.
Beautiful spot with a one mile trail. A little oasis in the middle of Newark. Good placee to walk dogs, run, or just enjoy the water views.
The reservoir is accessible from behind Pinebrook Apartments, and friends and I who used to live there would go for daily walks around the paved trail circling the reservoir. The trail offers a lovely place to observe the water as well as a pretty impressive view of the surrounding Newark area. You can also pick up a bike trail to White Clay creek from the wooded side of the reservoir. Hobbyist photographer friends of mine also like to go there to shoot the sunrise or sunset. It is a cool place to see if you're looking for a little adventure.
I love walking in the early morning at the reservoir. The view is just lovely. During my recent walk I saw an egret, a heron, and several ducks. It is a quiet, peaceful walk. I liked the fact that I passed several families either on their bicycles or walking, like me. The 1.1 mile is over before you know it. I felt very safe because there were several people on the trail with me, and the entire trail is visible at all times.
Great place to go for an afternoon or evening walk. . while you look over the Newark area. High on a hill the reservoir offers a nice stroll or jog around the water. I would recommend it.
The Newark Reservoir is high up, giving nice clean air to people walking and running and what not. It's very scenic, surrounded by woods, and in the center is the pond...the reservoir. It's a long walk up the hill to get to the circular trail, but I along with many others, just cut up the side of the hill. It's also great for sledding on!
It's a nicely paved trail around a man-made reservoir with wonderful views of Newark. It offers a decent workout for a middle aged person such as myself
