This was done as part of a voucher offering through Virgin Experiences. Booked for myself and a friend, the build up to the day went very smoothly with any questions I had being answered promptly by their staff making us feel relaxed and prepared upon arrival. after signing a quick indemnity form, we were kitted up and taken out to the training slopes. having some experience in skating and surfing, I managed to pick it up quite quickly, however, my friend who accompanied me was a bit less so and afforded as many trial runs and instructions/guidance as required to get him feeling competent. after a brief but thorough run through of technique and hill safety and a few trail runs, we were unleashed on the slopes on our own, encouraged to push for some of the more challenging runs once we had the feel for it. Our girlfriends also came along and had the ability to watch/mock/laugh and take photos from a sheltered seating area at the bottom of the hill. After your first booking and training, you are able to pitch up at any time for a small free and ride to your hearts content. any concerns were quickly alleviated by the thrill of riding the hills and we will definitely be going back for another session.
This was the first time i had ridden in over 2 years, and back then i just rode small hills i could walk to. This place is great, you can rent or buy any gear you need to ride and you don't even have to walk up the hill because there a lift. theres several different hills for different skill levels and styles of riding; i.e. downhill, boardercross, freestyle and theres even a foam pit. I will definately go there again to ride the hill.
Good fun good tuition, kitted out. Make sure you wear good padding, all got backache after, but worth it! Exhilarating.
With a few years of snowboarding behind me I'm always looking around for sports to get a similar rush in the summer. Wake-boarding's about as close as I've got before but this really hit the spot. The mandatory lesson could have been painfully slow but our instructor, Joe, immediately picked up that a few of us were more capable and accelerated the lesson to get us on the slope quicker. Within a couple of runs I felt pretty comfortable and able to go flat out straight down.Staff clearly very experienced and friendly. I'm already planning my next trip back there.
My son had his 11th birthday party with 9 friends at Ride the Hill today. They had a great time - as did the 2 dads! Lots of rides with different levels of difficulty - suitable for all abilities. All the staff (Travis in particular) were fantastic - really attentive, amusing and good fun. I can highly recommend it.
Everytime I come here I have a great time learning something new and having fun with friends. They staff are really friendly and helpful and are great with both kids and adults. The scenery is beautiful and lots of space to have a picnic or even go for a walk after!
Beautiful surrondingsExcellent tution, unrushed and relaxed enviroment. Throughly recommended, kids gradually progresses throught the hills so after 3 hours they had so much confidence and had improved so much. They were able to try the scooters on the hillls as well. We really had a great day.
The wife and i headed down to 'Ride the Hill' this weekend as we received a voucher as an xmas present, On arrival the site it well set out with all the amenities that you need. Once the disclaimer was signed it was time to get kitted up and head out. Dom the instructor was 1st class and ran us through the basics. Once he was satisfied that we could actually stop ourselves we started to climb the hill. the instruction is very well thought out and you learnt more and more as you make your way up the hill station by station.Once we had completed the whole hill run twice and proved we were able to control the descent ourselves we were allowed to continue to ride the hill for the remaining of the time, or if you are feeling brave you can take on the next section/level which includes some grinding poles. This i scan say is not easy and not for the faint hearted but well worth the experience. This is certainly something we will be doing again and also sharing the experience with all our friends. an epic experience made by not only the event but the location, set-up and staff.
This was the first time both of us had done mountain boarding, so I booked an hours private lesson with Alison. She taught us how to set off, ride, turn and stop. The private lesson was worth every penny, it was relaxed but very informative and every time we went down the hill we learnt something new. After a few goes on the nursery slope we were taken to a more advanced hill, gradually moving further up the hill as our confidence grew. Once we were proficient Alison left us to it. We then spent the remainder of the afternoon slaloming down the hill and riding the lift back up to the top to have another go. I would recommend Ride the Hill to anyone, both of us had a great time and can't wait to come back
4 of us went for a friends birthday having never done it before and we had a great time .... As expected the boys went for the speed whereas the girls wanted to work out the technique ... that's our excuse anyway!! I say boys and girls - we're all late 30's and 40's so don't think it's just for the kids ... it's a great afternoon for all ages as long as you don't mind a bit of rolling around and a few bumps and scrapes and the centre is in a great location, with a good set up and friendly staff/instructors.I would have given it a five but I had an issue with bindings (more experience would have told me to change the board earlier on) and that wasted some lesson time, but no big deal and I'll know for next time.So would I recommend it? Yes absolutely, and if you go with friends you'll have fun for sure.
