Oak Island beach is a great beach if want to swim, surf, fish or just relax. No out of control drunkeness, cheesy hotels, kids running wild. Great family beach with permanent residents and rentals. For now free parking with easy beach access. Dog friendly too. Plenty of places to eat off the beach and a couple of restaurants on the beach. Two piers for fishing or sightseeing. Love Oak Island beaches. Oh yeah, there is a lighthouse on the east end and marina on the west end.
Love the beaches of Oak Island so much that we bought a house there! Clean beaches. No rough surf. Great fishing and shelling. Very family friendly beaches!!!
If your looking for a beach without a crowd then this is the beach for you! Perfect place to take the family..dont have to worry about crowds or your kids getting lost. Everyone you meet on the beach is very friendly..I love that you can fish right infront of your beach house! Its like your own private beachHighly recommend!!
The fish were running and the beach was cluttered with fisherman. Now, if you love to fish, it was a perfect time to be on the beaches. We like to shell and walk and photograph. Fisherman set up there lines away from water line, so you are constantly ducking under lines. Makes for a distracting walk. We love the beaches and usually co-existing with the fishermen is a little easier.
We went to the beach nearly every day during the 4 plus weeks we were here. It was never crowded. There were so many public assess areas so we tried just about every access point from Caswell all the way to the Point on the western tip. The sunsets were just wonderful at the Point. Best of all our big bouncy dog was welcome on the beach. Can't wait to get back.
i guess all the kids and noisy people went to myrtle beach! this place was a little paradise! The only thing is that you had to PAY to go on the pier!!! what the heck??? otherwise it was great.
I have been to beaches all over the world. The water here might not be the clearest, but the waves are pretty small and the atmosphere is great. Look forward to many good years there.
I enjoyed the beaches but at some points, you have a lot less beach than other locations. All in all, it's just what we wanted, time to chill and enjoy the peace.
This time of year it's pretty chilly but if you are looking for peace and quiet then you cant beat it. completely deserted beach for miles. plenty of restaurants on the main rd. depending on your choice. Now have aerial pictures with my new quad copter and the view of unspoiled miles of beach .
i have to admit, when driving to the oak island beach today, I wasn't expecting much. I just wanted to see the ocean. But I was pleasantly surprised on the beauty, cleanliness and overall quality of the beach. The sand was soft, the water was pretty and there were several rental houses along the road to stay in. The beach was not commercialized at all either, which was a nice change.
