One of the really nice parks in Oak Park. Just enough trees to have both shady spots and sunny spots, plenty of room for frisbee-playing, and there's the historical society in the middle.I came here twice during a weeklong period with my boyfriend, and both times we saw people pass through with absurd quantities of canines on-leash. Think Robin from How I Met Your Mother. Hilarity. There's no playground equipment or baseball diamond at this park, as at so many others, which sets it apart in a nice way. Definitely for an older crowd, by which I just mean it's tot-free. Come with a dog (or ten), a ball, a frisbee, a picnic (I recommend PB&J wrapped in a tortilla with rice krispies, but tI would recommend that any time, any place), a beach towel, some SPF 30, and some great company, and you'll be right at home. (at park?)
Mills Park is next to the lovely Pleasant Home. It has a nice winding sidewalk and is nicely landscaped. Its popular with dog walkers and joggers. Located near the Marion Street business and restaurants, it's a good place for a stroll after eating out or shopping.
This is such a nice park for a stroll - we like to cut through on our bikes. I always have to go by the beautiful mansion and admire the front porch. Went on a tour of the house and loved to imagine what the area looked like at the turn of the century.
Compact, pleasant area for a stroll and great squirrel watching! Oak Park is great for walking but we were happy to rest our feet on a bench for awhile.
