Visited with three other couples...we had fun. Started by having lunch in their restaurant, which was very good. Played the slots...we won some and lost some! The important thing was to have fun. Didn't see any big jackpots, but still for a small venue, it was enjoyable. We have been to many casinos in the states and Canada...Oxford has a long way to go to even approach the quality and experiences of other venues, but it is a pretty ride there, restaurant is very good and reasonably priced, and who knows? You might get lucky! If you get a member card (free), you are in line for giveaways, promotions, and occasional gratis meals in their restaurant.
my friend and I both received the monthly flier promising free play on certain days just spin the wheel at the kiosk and win anywhere from 10 to a thousand dollars. The kiosk offer did not happen for us or many others. We were told at the service desk the owners of the casino churchill downs was having trouble with the computers. One lady said she was there the prior week and had the same problem. It makes one wonder if they are really having problems with the computer system as they have had two weeks to figure this out. My friend was able to see the wheel on the kiosk and tap the touch screen to spin the wheel, but the 10.00 freeplay was never added to his players card even after hanging around for two hours. We received no compensation and left after we were told churchill downs was having trouble on their end. It is very discouraging for people who have to travel any amount of distance and leave feeling gyped. The casino knows full well most people will spend money once they are inside whether they get the free play promised or not. Since Oxford has changed hands it has gone downhill and is the pits. When Oxford first opened in my opinion and based on opinions of others I have talked to, slots were looser, and also offered better "free play". Disappointing experience overall.
It was easy to find. Very clean, friendly & inviting. It looked a lot bigger inside then from the outside. Felt comfortable the whole time we were there. Although we choose not to have any beverages while we were the, it was being offered often. Plenty of room so your not crowded amoungst others while playing slots. Pleanty of gaming tables opened with fair limit amounts. We didn't get to try the buffet this trip, but we will be back for sure.
My husband and I went to the buffett tonight 2/14/15 for valentines dinner. We arrived at 4:30 only to be told that unless we had reservations we could not be served until 7:30 pm. There was no post on the dinner menu about reservations that I found. Plus we have been there before for the Seafood Buffett and we did not have this issue. We have been to all of the top Buffets in Vegas and have never had this issue. If it was a way for us to spend 3 hrs gambling then think again. Buffett's do not usually have reservations it is first come first serve. The whole situation sucked. Good luck on your future dinners, our friends will know how you work. And we know plenty.
Oxford is great entertainment. Don't go if you expect to get rich. It's a small casino in the middle of nowhere. They do have a restaurant and snack bar and self serve soda and coffee bar. The food has always been good. The slots are fun but can be tight . The table games are always exciting. Great place to go for a little fun.
Vacationing in New Hampshire, my boyfriend and I got an itch for a casino. Oxford seemed charming. You have to know where you are going, there is little to none for directions thank goodness for GPS. We stopped by for a couple of hours to play. One goes to a casino knowing they are going to lose some money. My boyfriend and I have visited several and we have won some/lost some but one of us has always had a nice hit ($80 or more) at least once in a hour - at this casino the most either one of us won on any one spin on slots was $20.00 and that was after an hour. Chatting up the other people playing no one was having any luck. The place was clean and new, the workers smiled but were not really engaging. It looked great but did not feel inviting.
Oxford Casino is getting it together. The restaurant has a great Friday night buffet. The gaming area is wide open and the tables are easy to get to. The dealers are friendly and willing to help the inexperienced.
lots of fun food a little pricey for a casino. Get there early in the day make your contribution to the casino and get out...gets very crowded
This is a small little casino in Oxford Maine, but it's a fun little place to visit for a day trip. They have mostly slots with some table games. They also have a restaurant that serves decent food. I was there for a lunch time buffet, price is reasonable and if you get enough points on Thursday before noon it's free, which is even better. The lunch buffet consisted of salads, hot dishes, pizza, carved turkey & gravy, desserts and a non-alcoholic drink was included. Had fun and enjoyed the slots and lunch buffet, will visit again...
I thought this would be a bigger casino but it was pretty small and not worth driving across state lines to visit. There's no lodging option and the closest thing was a motel/ lodge. Dining options are poor and the inside was barely 2 rooms. There are table games and mostly slots. I wasn't impressed but had to kill my curiosity. Don't think I'll be returning unless I move to the area cause that'll probably be the only attraction around.
