This is a great park for the entire family. Larger than one may think. Great for bike rides a barbecue or a just a trip to the ice cream shop. The carosel and paddle boats are great for the kids. The dog park is always lots of fun. Our two dogs love it and get excited when we are within a mile of Slater Park. I bring the several times per week! Don't miss the Chritmas trees on display after Thanksgiving during their "Winter Wonderland" It makes for a pleasant walk or even drive through the park.

Slater Park has something for everyone. In the spring and summer, there are concerts, The Historic carousel is still working and sometimes you can ride for the price of a can good for thelocal food pantry. There are tennis courts and BBQ pits for a family outing. There is a playground and several permanent vendors. The Watercolor Society is located on the pond where you can view or purchase the artists works. In the autumn the park is decorated for Halloween with a haunted tunnel, carousel rides. Winter brings a beautiful display of decorated Christmas Trees and small structures dedicated to loved ones who have passed as well as advertisement for the businesses involved. It is a winter wonderland especially if it snows. . . As you can see it is an all season park with something for everyone.

I have been here several times as it is very close to my home. In the start it used to be clean and well maintained but then in last summers I saw that the dog owners were not cleaning their dog's poop. Which made the park very filthy.But recently when we visited it was back to its original condition,Every summers we come to the park for daily walk and also sit around the pond for a while and enjoy the weather, it has paths in the woods and around the pond as well.There is also an area with swings for children but I have never been there.And in winters we go and make snowman ! LolWe tried to make this year too but it was very creepy lol ;)

The children's play area is disgustingly filthy. Very few animals for the kids to see. The picnic areas seemed fine. I realize there is no admission fee but this park is in desperate need of some TLC.

This park is a lot better than many people give it credit for, especially if you have children who need a day in the sun. If you love nature walks or biking, they have the Ten Points Trail that takes you through a very scenic nature trail along a running river (usually sporting some little furry creatures). If your in the mood to go to some attractions, they have a little zoo and botanical garden that your kids can enjoy that is attached to a rather large playground with a good vendor. If you want a romantic stroll there are swan boats you and your significant other can paddle together across from a large carousel that is among the oldest in Rhode Island.If you want to play some sports there are plenty of baseball fields, tennis courts and open spaces for Frisbee, volleyball or soccer. You can spend most of your day at this location (bring your own food to picnic at some of their campgrounds) and not be bored or feel like the day is dragging. Take the time to relax and enjoy yourself here.

It's a decent, reasonably well maintained family park for the most part. The only major things are the carousel and the fishing pond. Other than that you can have a picnic or party, with a permit of course, or just walk around. There is a softball diamond, but not sure if it's for public or just league use.

This is a cute local park well kept by the city, but the gem of it all is the bike/jogging path which is about 4 miles round trip and beautiful!!
