Bay harbor G.C. has three nine hole layouts-Preserve,Links, and Quarry' Each is unique, the Preserve is traditional tree lined, has some water, and narrow fairways, the Links is hilly, runs along the cliff above Lake Michigan, and has great views, the Quarry is partially in an old quarry and contains a variety of holes. It is generally felt that the Preserve is the easiest track but it can grab you if you are not watchful. The Links and the Quarry are the harder tracks but they play fairly as to carry and difficulty if you are honest about your ability and use the correct tee box. I often see players playing from the blue tees when their ability dictates that for a pleasurable round they should play from the forward tees. On this course such an attitude will only get you an unpleasant experience (many lost balls) and a frustrating day. Play the correct tee box, bring along your camera for wonderful pictures, and there isn't a better course you could play in Northern Michigan. After golf eat or have a beverage on the clubhouse deck that overlooks the 18th green and Little Traverse Bay.
Enjoyed a beautiful afternoon of golf in Northern MI on the Links/Quarry course combination. The golf course was in great shape and challenging. The scenery is spectacular overlooking the bay and Lake Michigan. I rented clubs and wish I had brought mine because it would have improved my play. Rented clubs are never the best but everything else about this golf club was great.
The golf course and club house are amazing. Very scenic and tough holes. Highly recommended. Would go back any time I can.
I captured another Wedding at the Golf Club and it was a wonderful Venue. I would recommend this venue for their wonderful views, perfect service, and food. The couple loved every bit of it and the night was perfect. Very elegant and classy.
Excellent links and quarry layouts are a must play if in the area. The preserve layout is classic michigan. GPS on carts make the play enjoyable.
Tee time at Bay Harbor on a Boyne golf pkg. Was pushed back for "Members " who 's tee time was rained out 2 hrs earlier. Also the quality of service provided was poor , w/ no bar cart on the course , Club house grill closed on Larbor Day Weekend.. Very over rated for a high end gold club. Going down hill.
The course is very poorly managed and you'll rarely see a happy member. The food is typical cheap stuff served by very union-esqe Boyne employees, and the clubhouse is clearly cheaply built and looks to be in disrepair. Too, it's very overpriced. To many, this is a bucket-list golf course and I can understand. The views on the course are impressive, but it's clear Boyne cuts corners everywhere trying to squeeze every last cent out of this place while spending as little as possible.
I knew I was in for a special round of golf but I underestimated the beauty of this course. Lake Michigan is visible from a majority of the holes and the views from the holes on the Links course are breath taking. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a round of golf here!
We played the Links and Quarry courses. The Links course is wonderful--scenic, challenging---thoroughly enjoyable. The Quarry course is full of jaw-dropping holes, but be warned---it is very challenging--every hole is tricky and full of trouble--NOT for anyone but an excellent golfer, unless you have a good tolerance for frustration and lost balls.
Beautiful. Course but staff woefully under trained. Act like they are god's gift to golf with very little manners. I would not golf or stay here again.
