The lobby is clean & well maintained. The lobby employees were courteous & professional. The theater we were in could use new seats. Several seats in the row we sat in were stained and/or in need of repair.
Star Southfield has had better days. All the ancillary shops are closed. We went on a Saturday night and it was still pretty bare. 80% of the concessions were closed. They have unique ethnic movies, which is probably the only reason we'd go back.
I never did like the Star Movie theatre chain.Overall their screens, sound system & auditoriums are not as nice as the other local movie theater chains in the area (MJR & IMAGINE)This location is one of the worst in the chain with an overall dirty look, a disrespect by patrons during movies on cell phones & talking & the theater staff doesn't seem to care.I recommend taking a little extra time and drive to another theater.
One my family's favorite movie theaters in the Detroit area. Spacious, clean bathrooms, decent snack bar area.
We were pleasantly surprised about the interior of this theater! Wonderfully decorated, clean, and comfortable! Completely enjoyed watching the movie Malficent!
If you attend this theatre please go during the day "matinee". The evening is a Bad idea, teenagers (16-19) are crawling the theatre and are very Loud, Rude and Out of Control! Your best bet is Matinee!
This is one of the worst movie theatres in the Metro Detroit area. It is always crowded, people often bring young children to age-inappropriate movies. The popcorn doesn't taste fresh, The customer service is absolutely awful. I will drive many miles out of the way to avoid going to this theatre.
It's hard to find two seats together that are not broken or soiled. The restrooms are not clean and the management is ambivalent at best.
This was the first place I went to for a movie that had the "theatre seating" so there wouldn't be a bad seat in the house. It was a very nice addition to a new theatre. It makes viewing a movie much better for everyone. It left me thinking, why didn't they do this years ago with every movie theatre?Anyway, this is a real nice place to go to see a movie. Movie going is still a nice way to get out of the house and have a good time for not too much money. Southfield's Star theatre is a great place to do that. The parking lot is huge. The lobby is open and large. The concession lines move quickly and the staff is helpful and friendly. There's ample seating and a number of theatres. I recommend seeing a movie there.
Nice theater near my home with good popcorn and more. I can a quick meal or adult beverage before my show and head home not needing to make three stops for each thing I want to do.
