We first stopped at Maroons after a tour of the Yeungling Brewery as they "recommend" it. We really enjoyed the ice cold beer and the yummy Buffalo Chicken Dip!!. This year, when we made our annual visit to Jim Thorpe, we were sure to schedule a stop in Pottsville and Maroons into our trip!!
Well, first of all I have to say that Pottsville it's famous for having one of the oldest beer factories in USA , the beer is Yuengling !! Really delicious , more than this in this bar you can taste the boneless, really tasty chicken without bones and fried. Also the burgers are quite good, it's just a pub , but the food is made with love !!
I ate there on a Saturday night around 8pm. There was a few tables of families being served. Otherwise the place was pretty quiet. It was very clean, and the service was very friendly. My meal was a regular cheese steak. It was ok, nothing over the top. I probably go again for drinks and some appetizers. But not a full meal.

I came here for dinner at the recommendation of the Yuengling brewery tour guide with 2 of my friends. I had BBQ chicken wings, I forget what the others had. The wings were small, of standard (not very good yet certainly not bad) quality and taste. Great beer and alcohol selection but I went for the Yuengling of course. Our waitress/bar tender (we ate at the bar) gave very standard, average service. The bar is decorated and made in homage to a local football team from the days before the NFL. They won a champion title and it's nice to see the local town remembering them. Similar in theme to "Gettysburg Eddies" if you've ever been there. The price was a tad bit high and the food was approximately average so "value" takes a hit. It is somewhat of a tourist magnet I think.Bumping the overall score from average to very good is the upstairs pool room. After dinner we went upstairs and drank beer and played several rounds of pool. It was a nice way to relax after driving the hours to Pottsville.I'll return to Pottsville in the future but I'm not positive I'll return to Maroon's. Not because they are bad but just to try someplace else. Who knows maybe every other restaurant is worse and Maroon's is the best! I don't have the experience to tell you.
Some of the burgers are pretty good and usually the service is good. We ride there a few times over each summer.
New owners have taken over this Pottsville staple. They scrapped a great menu; the place is lackluster, the staff is slow and very unwelcoming. Food which was always good, now runs between mediocre to horrible. The fabulous Maroon style wings are gone replaced with dried “pigeon” wings with the most unappetizing blobs of sauce imaginable. The Maroons were robbed of an NFL championship and now Pottsville has been robbed of Maroons!
Got really sick on the food, Ruben sandwich and fried shrimp appetizer. Never again.. If you go drink only the beer, they have no concept on food preparation and temperature . Beer should. Be safe they don't make it..
You'll find Maroons is frequented by many who took the Yuengling tour and want to further sample the libations. Service was a little slow but we were there over a holiday weekend. Tried their "Skook" and anyone with Polish roots will be more than satisfied. Very nice atmosphere, every clean and really made for an enjoyable lunch. By all means don't hesitate!
Came here for dinner and was unimpressed. Even though you can sit and eat, the bar is next to the tables and smoking is allowed. Ordered the wing salad and it was so hot, I could not eat it. Not a place I would recommend for a family at all.
