They give you a wow sticker when you pay to go into the lobby masquerading as a museum. This symbolizes wow we payed for this? I could recreate this lobby with some paper, water colors, and items from my recycling. The computers with apps that i have on my phone was a real hit with my kids! Ok it wasnt but that was the highlight. I did try to build something only to find this activity has rules posted obsecurely behind the actvity and that it took 4 people and a supervisor. Im 32 and daily play with million dollar pieces of equipment but lord knows i need supervision. The teenage supervising nazi continued to follow me around after I declined her expert supervision which made it even more awkward. We left the spacious 400sq ft upstairs for the lobby dowstairs where we found a beautiful piece of malfunctioning corporate art. We spent half an hour for 20$ and 30 min drive. On the upside wendys just up the street was amazing and far exceeded the museum in customer service and has made my children addicts for frostys. Also the museum probally got my daughter sick.
I spent the morning in the Buell Children's Museum with my 4 year old grandson. He and I both had a great time. There was lots to do and the staff were wonderful. Oh and the price CANNOT be beat!! The same "sticker" from the morning also provided me admission into the more adult section of the museum that afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed the Strings & Sculpture exhibit!! I managed to be there for one of the live performances...it was great! The art galleries were wonderful. Mostly regional art...and beautiful, amazing regional art at that. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.
Nice place. Great views from all seats. I loved it. They should add more acts and shows. I would go more often. check them out.
What a wonderful surprise! The art gallery, children's museum and performance center are top notch. I wondered where all the supporters and collectors were in Pueblo, but this center is a testament to the power of art! Well done, Pueblo!!
When we moved to Pueblo in 2012 one of our first inquiries was to see the community art theater options. After touring the center we became Season ticket holders and have enjoyed the performances we have seen for the past two years. We have friends who have live in this area all of their lives and had never gone to this theater. They are now season members as well. For such a small community this center brings in amazing professional performances. They offer a variety of shows to encompass both family and adult options. We love the Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center and renewed our membership for 2014.
We went backwards through the museum, but still got the story. We started with the new exhibit about the Ludlow Massacre in 1913, which incorporates some technology, and is very well done. A quick visit of about an hour. It's small but well-done.
The Art Center is a beautiful building in Pueblo. Activities are available for all age groups. Check the schedule to make a stop at this lovely piece of Pueblo.
This is a nice convention center and museum with Interesting art and displays. Keeping with the theme of American war heroes, it is a nice feeling. The restaurant looked good too, but was closed when we were there.
We brought our two-year-old to the museum and the whole family had a good time. The museum is big enough for hours of delight and small enough to have a nice sense of scale and not getting lost in a madhouse like some children's museums. We were there for the Wizard of Oz theme and the theme changes quarterly. It was busy enough that our daughter could play with other kids if she chose, but big enough that she could explore on her own in many sections.Exceptional quality and value for the really low price of admission.
Took my two boys (8 and 5) to the Children's Museum. It was great. Lots of activities and special programs throughout the day. We went on "Stuffy's Birthday" (the museum mascot) so I don't know if his birthday is celebrated everyday, or if it really was a special day, accounting for all of the activities. The museum has a Wizard of Oz theme, so the kids could dress up in costumes. They also had lots of various art activities. It was also quite inexpensive, just $4 for adults and $3 for kids.
