Makes a great relaxing evening. Especially after a days work. Water isso relaxing and warm. Natural setting, done beautiful. Many different pools. Clothing is optional fir those that are ala natural. Staff is super helpful and friendly.
My friend, a faithful regular when he comes to town twice a year, dragged me to Orvis after a busy and exhausting Saturday of ice climbing. It was absolutely fantastic--warm, clean, discreet (clothing is optional in the particular pool we soaked in), and the night sky was astoundingly beautiful. I was too hot to soak my arms much and noticed a huge difference in soreness between arms/legs the next day--next time I'll get those too!
Orvis is a wonderful, beautiful place to relax, to sit and soak. Many people have been coming here for several years and were always treated with respect. However, a male employee named Bruce needs some training in customer service because he yelled at customers (see previous review). He told them to do something "because he said so," not "because these are the rules." He said, "There is no written rule about this. You have to do it because I say so." Really? Not a very good argument.Thank goodness all the ladies are friendly. We will not be back until Bruce is gone.
We visited the Orvis Hot Springs after a day at the Ouray Ice Park. The springs were just what we needed after a week of skiing and general playing outside. We were there for three to four hours and felt amazing after our soak. I've been to other hot springs that were more natural but this place certainly did the trick. We would definitely visit again if in the area. By the way, the lithium in the water definitely seemed to make a difference in the relaxation factor of the springs. Free lockers, coffee, water, and shared kitchen were welcome additions to our stop.
The grounds are beautiful and the pools temperatures are perfect. The natural stone and tall trees make this one of the nicest hot springs I've been to. This is a very peaseful spot to stargaze and soothe both mind and body. It is not a place for children, though they do have an indoor pool for the kids. I would give it five stars, but the clothing optional can be distracting on occasion. After a day of skiing it is a must if you want tired muscles to be ready to move the next day. The staff is friendly and if you only stay for an hour the price is fair.
The staff here is not particularly welcoming, but we did not come here for that. The changing room was not particularly clean, but we are always careful to use flipflops to avoid contact with floors in public places like this. The pools range from very hot (the Lobster Pot) to a nice warm in the largest pool. The surfaces are very uneven, so be careful when walking. We were there at night. The lighting is very low, so extra care should be taken. There is no signage in this rather large place, so it can be rather confusing at night. There is lodging as well, and a common cooking area. A day pass is $16 plus $1.50 for a towel. Clothing is optional except for the swimming pool and the entry building.
The hot spring was quite a ways farther than we expected and we showed up just a couple hours before closing. After paying the same fee as a full day we enjoyed the hot spring until close. After hearing the call that it was time to leave, my friends and I proceeded to the dressing rooms to dry off and re-clothe. I was very surprised when the owner walked by and gruffly asked if I was done yet. I replied, no and checked the time . Seven after ten, but what could he expect after all, seven minutes ago we were in the hot spring. I continued to gather my things and I sat in the lobby to lace my boots, a somewhat time consuming task. After hearing a woman plead with him and him deny her reentry to the dressing room to retrieve her belongings he turned to me and told me I was trespassing and to "get out." I was shocked and I said "excuse me I'm a valued customer just as much as anyone else. It is a bit after closing but you can't expect your customers to enter this weather while they are wet." He immediately told me that I was not welcomed back for the rest of the summer. He seems like a very troubled man, it's very unfortunate a beautiful place is stewarded by such an unhappy person. I don't mind his request for me to not return, as I'll never pay him good money for service like that again.
Nice place, but the staff was very rude. We witnessed a male employee yelling at some guestPeople very loud
