I liked it better than the Cathedral! The Main Altar with its ceramic 3 dimensional figures are unique. Both the main and side altars are works of art. The audio guide is easy and costs 2 to 3 euros and gives you just enough information to enhance what you are seeing. It's a wow...and no crowds when I was there. After...it is a 2 mins. walk to Place San Francisco where you can eat the best tapas at Albarama Restaurant.
The church is a vivid example of the Baroco style. The icons and paintings are wonderful. It is worth a guided tour or audio tour around the church to have a clear idea of the meaning and time of all the paintings and sculptures inside.
I didn't realise this church was so impressive from the outside, but once you get in it takes your breath away. Although there were a lot of beautiful churches this was definitely the most decadent. For only 4 euros you also got an audio guide which gave you more background on each piece of work in the church and you could spend hours there finding out all about it. A must visit for anyone going to Seville.
What a marvelous afternoon we spent viewing the church, and watching the crowds come to venerate the processional statuary. Caught a rehearsal of the procession on Sunday, too. A beautiful living monument to the region's faith.
this church is based on one of the most emblematic squares in Sev. Moreover three brotherhoods belongs to it. It is a expectacular church only "overtake" by the Cathedral. It was restored about 4-5 years ago and its perfect to visit. After that, taking a cold bear in one of the three bars in front of it, is a perfect activity to really discover the inhabitants.
This church really stands out in my mind. Also it is free with your entrance ticket from the Cathedral. It is a must and in some ways it is nicer than the massive cathedral is...
This is a small, baroque style chapel that is over the top ornate with gold gilding on everything. Not really my style but we went just to get the ticket package that gets you into the Cathedral as well so you can skip the long line.
Highly recommended; ideally, you'll go here first (and purchase the 'combined ticket', which also covers the main Cathedral and the Giralda tower...and allows you to avoid their long lines). Really gorgeous interior areas, alters and art works...my favorites are 'The Adoration of the Shepherds' painting, and the extraordinary, life-size sculpture of 'St. Christopher Carrying Infant Jesus', which has been described as a masterpiece (and compared to Michelangelo's works in Italy). A powerful representation of strength and tenderness.
Beautiful church, bigger inside than what it appears from the outside. Impressive architecture, and a very detailed audioguide tour included in the visit which offers great amount of information.
Buy your ticket here for this church and the cathedral. You will then be able to bypass lines at the cathedral later. This church is a gem. Sit in a pew and enjoy the beauty.
