This seemed to be a very popular place- get a drink and watch a flamenco show for free. This was truly one of the best touristy experience in Spain- getting soaked in Flamenco dance and music.
We've come to this place to watch flamenco by a recommendation of one of the locals. However, the staff told us that the shows here are cancelled since few weeks ago, and except for them there is nothing special in this place
只要点饮料就可以看免费的表演,很复古的一个地方,不过如果真的要看Flamenco,我觉还是佛朗明哥博物馆最棒!(但就要十几欧了...)
While the music appeared to be authentic, it was difficult to be sure as the only non-tourists present were the musicians and staff. The guides say that La Carboneria is popular amongst local flamenco enthusiasts, but the presence of so many tourists may be driving them away.
The lady whom we rented the apartment from recommended us to go there, citing it being near where we stay and flamenco dance is good there. We managed to get the front table, being the first customers to enter Carboneria as they open for business at 8pm. Nice to watch so close the dancing for first timers, the passionate expression on the dancer and the singer. Food is only so served at 9pm, need to get the form to fill in your orders. Food wise is so so only.
Although I went there for flamenco only to be told that there was none as they stopped it a few months ago, it was still a great place to hang out. people there were friendly and was made to feel very welcome!! :)
We went here for a few drinks and to see some flamenco. We had a wonderful time. The music was great and the flamenco show was amazing. It felt very authentic and was a great way to spend a night in Sevilla.
I read in various guides that this bar was worth checking out for culture and flamenco music. It is hidden on Levies street and the road bends so it seems to be an alley but follow it to no.18 and after 8.30pm you can get in. The feel is homely- with real fires burning in fireplaces and improvised flamenco rumored to e nightly and most begin from 10.30pm onwards. There is a large bar with range of drinks and food but prices are a little higher as entry is free so can't expect all the extras without a little profit for the bar itself.
I have been there twice and it's amazing. The atmosphere, the staff, everything is amazing. The singer is so good and when he sings it's like an invasion of emotion. If you are in Seville you have to go there. They also have this amazing lady that dances flamenco and a piano. It's the place to go if you want a quiet night.
We went to La Carboneria based on some of the reviews that said they had seen good flamenco for free. The place is certainly different, and full of tourists, I don't think there were any locals down there! Hot as hell, everybody was sweating badly. Drinks on the bar, certainly cold and cheap. The flamenco trio was starting when we arrived. No audio made it difficult to appreciate the singing (one cantaor one guitar). The bailaora (dancer) was sitting with the trio and only danced one song. All in all, go to a better place to see flamenco, where you have three bailaoras and more guitars and singers. Of course you will have to pay, but you will see and listen to something better, made for tourists, so what? It is good and local anyway.
