I like small local ice cream shops and Wilbur's does not disappoint. It always has a good selection and is never a bad stop on a hot summer day. It does go a little slowly during the dog days of summer, but is usually well worth it.
We eat lunch here all the time!! The rustic bread makes awesome panini sandwiches. My fav is the BBQ chicken my sister likes the pulled pork:) in the summer we get Lobster rolls (cheap 6 bucks)
This great little hole in the wall spot has flourished since moving from the Harbor a few years ago. The addition of fresh, made-to-order sandwiches really makes a trip here worthwhile. Eat in or take out, and don't forget the ice cream!
On a whim we stopped at Wilbur's North the other day - it was muggy and hot and we figured an ice cream would hit the spot -and did it ever!! My husband had maples walnut that was billed as "homemade" - it was delish!!!! Filled with tons of walnuts! I opted for low fat coffee yogurt - not sure how low fat it was (and guility, I dont really want to know!) because it was really scrumptious! As I write this, my mouth is watering -cant wait to get back there soon! Also their sandwich menu looked great - great prices too...gotta try those one of these times...Go and enjoy! I don't think you'll be disappointed.
We used to ride our bikes to Wilbur's when I was a kid growing up. I remember this place was clean and kitschy, would get a wilbur wheel or wicked Willie and play chuck berrys "my dingaling" on the retro jukebox. Took my girlfriend there today and was shocked when I walked through the front door. The place was dark, dingy and unclean. I felt like i was at a creepy carnvial ice cream stand that was right next to freaky side shows out back. never going back.... Hopefully my old childhood memories will help me forget the horror i witnessed today. :(
Excellent ice creme and very courteous help from all employees especially the owner who can't do enough for his customers
this place is a hidden gem!!!it's known for there ice cream, which is great.i went for lunch last week and i've been going 4 times a week since.THERE SANDWICHES ARE $5 AND THERE LOADED WITH BOARS HEAD COLD CUTS.CHECK OUT THERE CHILI ALSO,IT'S THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD
better choice - Nona's homemade ice cream in the harbor. This place is a dive. The old Wilburs was fantatstic but the new owners have let it go
Wilbur's used to be a great place but it has gone way down hill the last few years. Staff is not friendly and it is quite dirty. The tables are dirty, floor is dirty and overall rather dingy. The ice cream is good but I won't go back. Too many other good ice cream places.
Used to go here quite a bit when I was a kid living in the area. Now I try to stop in every summer when I'm back visiting the old neighborhood, and it never disappoints. This place set the bar for me for "mix-ins" (candy toppings mixed into ice cream), here known as "Wicked Willies". In addition to their massive selection of ice cream flavors and frozen desserts/drinks, they throw together great deli sandwiches too. Last time I went, they even had a mile-high sandwich option. This isn't a five-star establishment. Expect sticky tables, high school students serving you, large groups of loud children, and delicious ice cream and sandwiches! It's great for what it is.
