A great place to eat and relax. Usually live entertainment on Friday nights. Have a cocktail and unwind.
We found this place by accident while in OC, an ad in the paper about an art show and jazz fest. We were looking for something to do and it was free with three jazz acts. this was year two for us as, We now plan our vacation around this event. You need to see whats happening at the stage and if it's something playing you like, go see it. they have good food at the stage cafe as well as wine, beer, soda etc. I just wish we live closer so we could attend more. Thank you Freeman Stage for a great day.
Found this while at OC. Great venue. Awesome jazz and great artists. Large food portions at the café. We are planning our 2014 vacation around this event. Wish we lived in Selbyville to enjoy all the Freeman Stage has to offer. A must do.
Great performances, some even free. Small town feel, families gathering to watch bringing their lawn chairs. Check the schedule and pick something and GO!
This is the second year we have attended concerts while at the beach. The Freeman Stage is truly a community based venue that provides a great variety of shows from Spring thru Fall, with a half dozen or so big name groups in the peak Summer season. Last weekend we saw the Motown Forever show that was enjoyable, casual and a great way to spend a Saturday evening. The BYOC events are very inexpensive and allow you to see some lesser known groups in a comfortable setting. The staff is helpful and parking is reasonable with the expected nominal delays coming and going. Look through the schedule and find a show of your liking! We will be back again in August to see the Beach Boys.
I took my 10 month old infants here to watch the Irish Celtic band Cherish the Ladies. It was a wonderfully casual venue. The sound was first rate and the staff was super friendly. For this show, it was just bring-you-own-camp-chair and there was a lot of room to spread out. I'd imagine that for a bigger show it might feel crowded but it was perfect for us. There was food, clean bathrooms close enough that you could still hear the show inside, the water nearby kept it breezy and cool. Fantastic sunset, NO BUGS and a great show. I would go here again in a heartbeat.
I experience several concerts this summer at Freeman. The venue is perfect for outdoor concerts. You will have an up close and personal experience with the artist.
What a great concert experience! First, if Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is in your area, don't miss them. The 9-piece band puts on a very lively show - updated Cab Calloway style swing and hot jazz. Second, if the weather cooperates, the outdoor setting (BYO own lawn chairs) with sun setting behind you, was perfect. The many Freeman Stage volunteers kept things moving, as you came in and parked your chairs in even rows. We got there about 40 minutes before the concert and sat about half-way back, though the first 10-15 rows are reserved seats. The place was packed, including the dance floor off to one side. If you didn't dance there, you were dancing in your seat.
While they occasionally have some good shows, in the last couple of years it has gone down hill while ticket prices have gone up. Perhaps it's time for a new staff with new ideas. Worth visiting at least one time. DONT FORGET YOUR BUG SPRAY. The stage sits on swamp land
I had the awesome privilege of attending the July 11 Aaron Neville concert at Freeman Stage. This was my very first visit there. The first thing that impressed me was the cleanliness of the parking lot and facility. The Volunteer (yes, volunteer) group could not have been more accommodating and pleasant. There was plenty of room for walking, purchasing food and amenities. Everything was so organized and well layed out, including the comfortable foldable seats. The beauty of the surrounding golf course, the fountain, the awesome sunset behind us and even the soft blue glow of the lawn lights gave a surreal ambiance to the event. The sound quality was superb. There was NO bad seat in the house. Of course, to hear Aaron Neville's one of a kind voice and performance was on my bucket list. Attendee's were very courteous and allowed me to step up and take non-flash pictures. I was less than 15 feet from him, giving me that up close and personal feeling. The entire evening was one that I will never forget. I will definitely attend and support Freeman Stage in the future and be the PR person via word of mouth. How can I volunteer for the next event? Thankyou!
