Not too big, but has a lot of good attractions and not too pricey. Definitely good for families and in a good location!

Just big enough to spend a few hours with your kids. We are members of the zoo and take the grandkids a few times a year. They have a nice area made into a dinosaur dig. It has shade and provides a good rest area after walking a lot. The zoo is constantly improving and has just gone through a major renovation near the front. Food is available, plenty of picnic tables, a playground for the little ones, a train ride and a merry go round.

Never disappointed. It's great to see all the changes they keep making over the last few years. Much better and seemingly more animal-friendly attractions. Even on a cold or rainy day, the indoor exhibits (particularly Rainforest Falls). The kids always enjoy Sea Lion Cove and Otter Creek as well, plus visiting the gorillas.

This is a great zoo. It's not so huge that you have to dedicate an entire day to it - you can do it in a few hours. The exhibits are great and I can't wait until the polar bear exhibit is complete. The tropical rain forest/birdhouse exhibit is fantastic especially going up to the second level to get above the foilage. If you have children I would definitely recommend a family membership, but even so it's a good price for the experience.

The Buffalo Zoo is small and cozy. I used to take my kids there when they were young, and I still maintain my family membership. It's small enough that it's easy to do with small children, yet there are a wide variety of animals to look at. The rainforest exhibit and the sea lion/otter exhibit are some of the new additions and are great. I'm looking forward to the new polar bear habitat as well. It's a great place to spend some time, and it's within Delaware Park which is a destination all on its own!

Docent tours are outstanding...new Artic Edge exhibit opening this year.. lovely S AM rainforest with Howler Monkeys (and much more)...easy to walk and stroll...child friendly..excellent habitat of Lowland Gorillas ( w newborn) and wonderful variety of trees

Having traveled around and the opportunity to see other zoos, I would have to say that considering that Buffalo is lagging behind in rehabilitation, and is just now getting a just due renaissance, the Buffalo zoo is one of the nicest zoos I have seen. And it has really improved over the last ten years, with the addition of many new attractions and animal habitats. Being an animal lover, I am happy to see that the gorillas have a wonderful large habitat and not stuck in an horrible cage. The polar bear exhibit is finally getting the once over, and the Rainforest habitat is wonderful, just don't go in the dead of heat of summer, unless you like to sweat A LOT! It is unbearble to go in during the summer. The rain forest habitat is a fall, spring and early summer place to see. The older buidlings built to last forever are kind of now dreary and dark, but house some of the greatest animals. The Buffalo Zoo should be on your list of places to see if you are coming into Buffalo or moving to the city. They have a great gift shop and several snack eateries onsite, or you can picnic on the ground with your own grub. For those traveling with children, there is a train, carousel and outdoor playground area to enjoy. The Carousel is an old fashioned looking one and the kids love those. So if you are in the area remember to stop by and say hi to our animal friends.

It's small and you get closer to the animals than at other zoo's.I really liked that.Ok it's not a whole day but I think your kids will love it!

We love this zoo! It is a manageable size for young and old, especially good when you have limited time. A season pass is quite reasonable and there are exhibit improvements being made all the time. A great spot for a family outing!

This zoo is just the right size for my grandkids and me. Always being improved. While I sometimes feel sad for the animals in a zoo, I know that everything us being done to give them a good life without the dangers that they would face in their natural habitats. Yu can see that the Director and staff really care for these animals. The zoo is always being made better for the "residents" and us, their guests.
