The grounds and the view of this place is amazing and definitely one of the best in Franschoek! For the wine tasting we got a table outside and enjoyed the endless mountain views. The place and the restuarant are a must visit. The wine tasting on the other hand you can skip and you wont be missing much.
The overall experience was wonderful. From the welcoming of the staff to the building, the venue and most of all the wines. Highly recommended to visit if you are doing the wine lands whilst in Cape Town. I would repeat this wine experience exactly the same way! Simply stunning
I go to many wineries, but have to congratulate the staff serving us at Ernie Els. From welcoming my guests, interacting with them, doing a tasting there - in my opinion one of the best wineries when it comes to outstanding service. Well done you guys, it is always a pleasure taking my guests there, as I know your service is outstanding, and they are guaranteed to have a fantastic experience, and enjoy wonderful wines. Keep the good work up, you do Ernie proud!
My family visited this winery this month and was impressed with not only the exceptional service but also the way that they set up there wine tasting. We were taken to a table on the Veranda which had an exceptional view of the wine region. The wine was excellent and we ordered up a cheese platter to enjoy during the tasting. This is a great winery to visit.
Rather hidden well off the Somerset West to Stellenbosch main road, but worth the very scenic drive. The gardens leading up to the venue and at the place itself are immaculate. The building & its entrance (huge granite boulders & Koi ponds) is spectacular! The complimentary wine on arrival is a "nice touch." If weather permits, be seated on the outdoor patio - the mountain & valley vistas are magnificent. Service is prompt, attentive, relaxed & friendly. The formalised 'wine tasting' offered is "OK" but comparatively expensive - as are the cellar door prices. The lunch menu is extremely limited & although the food is very well & attractively presented, portions are small & expensive. After luncheon coffee is not available .... the emphasis is solely on their wines! What was planned to be a 'special' luncheon turned out to be disappointing. Go for the drive & to view the building & its surroundings - golfers might be interested in the Trophy Room, but to me (a non-golfer), "it was all about Ernie & his ego." Have the wine tasting but that's about it .....!
We stopped by here for lunch and a quick wine tasting when visiting a couple of vineyards in the area. If the weather's good then make sure you get a table outside as the view down the valley towards Stellenbosch is difficult to beat.I think its fair to say that the lunch menu is concise - personally this is quite refreshing however others may feel forced into a choice. I think we all plumped for the burger in the end which was nice enough. We took the Players Tasting a little before and during lunch and although not all were to our tastes, this is still good value. Irrespective of the wines this is worth a visit for lunch to while away a few hours soaking up the view.
We combined the wine tasting with a lunch which was a perfect combination with waiters that knew their stuff and were very pleasant. The view from the terrace over the vineyards was superb. Excellent, especially for golfers to visit the 'house' of one of the great golfers in the world. Looking forward to receive the ordered wines at our home.
What a nice surprise to have had Ollie doing the wine tasting ! He was brilliant, full of humor, knowledge of their wines but also surrounding vineyards!! Thank you!! Not the usual stiff experience!! To the rest of the staff, relax and focus on your quality of service but also geniune friendliness! Anel from African Wonder Tours
Here they definitely know what they are doing. The service is fantastic and the wines are amazing defiantly worth seeing if you are tasting wine in the area.
Ernies vineyard is in an amazing setting with views that will take your breath away. It was slightly disorganised on arrival, but the staff worked hard to do the right thing. Standard is very good. The trophy room was a pleasant surprise.
