We came for the snow which was superb but the friendliness and efficiency was remarkable. The standard of food available on the slopes was higher quality and better value than in Europe. The lift system is excellent, efficient and well supplied with places to eat your sandwiches, inside plus plenty of Los, again a marked contrast to ruropean resorts.I would recommend this as a ski destination without ant hesitation.
Steamboat is definitely a large varied mountain with all kinds of skiing. We had a great week with excellent conditions. It's 3 hours from Denver so a bit of a drive if coming from there. That said, the ride is very scenic. The scenery in Steamboat is more arid almost desert like.
Steamboat is a good hill with slopes for all. However, intermediate runs are limited and can get repetitive to those who want to stay on blues. Expert skiers will like the chutes and steeps - especially if there is powder. Food availability and selection are very good. Staff is friendly. Fourth visit over 30 years and in time will return.
I love the Steamboat mountain and all the resort staff are top notch. We went night skiing for the first time and the runs were well groomed. We received a free night skiing pass by showing our boarding pass.
Steamboat Mountain is not everything you see from the street. Either is the staff. The mountain is fabulous, once you take the Gondola, the world opens up and the mountain finally reveals itself. What a great place to ski, for a variety of ski levels. The staff at the base are very friendly, they deliver hot chocolate every afternoon, always greeting you with a smile and always available to answer any questions. The staff on the mountain are as courteous. The ski patrol, stops by to say hi, ask if you are enjoying the mountain, if you have questions. The entire experience is outstanding. Definitely a recommendation on all levels. It is very convenient to have one major exit off the mountain, so that you can meet up and coordinate. The base has a lot of shops for convenience and a great social center, for after skiing.
This was a package available from the mountain activity services that provided a mountain guide, snowshoes, and a gourmet lunch at Hazie's on the Mountain. This was a short tour that was enjoyable and not very difficult but the guide that we had, Michael, was very knowledgeable and friendly. The lunch at Hazie's was delicious and it was very enjoyable to share a meal with some new found friends. We elected to walk down from the gondola rather than ride down. Be prepared for a long walk but a good way to walk off lunch. This is a good thing to do on the "ski off day" for a change of pace and a good opportunity to try out snowshoeing.
Our favorite place to ski - no crowds, no ski lift lines. Small town feel. Easy to fly in. Great trails for all levels.
Love steamboat! We live and usually ski on the east coast. After visiting Vail and Steamboat over the years, we as a family have fallen in love with Steamboat Ski resort. Great amenities and wonderful service. Great family atmosphere.
We made our first family trip to Steamboat in 1982 when our children were 4&6. 2015 was our fourth visit. This time our daughter was here with her 4&6 year olds. Steamboat's ski school has remained excellent through the years. I love watching big bearded instructors working with small children. While temperatures have been unusually warm, the grooming crew has done a great job keeping all terrain open. We especially like the fact Steamboat Springs is a real town. The number and quality of restaurants has steadily increased. On mountain dining is better than average. We look forward to returning to Steamboat
First time Steamboat Skier. 5 days, with temps in the low 30's. Loved it! Despite lower snow volume this season, we really enjoyed Steamboat. I will come back. Grounds crew did a great job on the terrain!
