We have been to several breweries in Wisconsin, and we loved this one the best. The white stout was amazing. The tour was fun, but the beer is the best. The end of the tour is limited, the tasting is right there in the brewery so there is no separate taproom, we wanted to stay longer but the next tour was coming in.
Point Brewery is a well know local beer. The Brewery gives tours and tasting and has a small gift store. They produce several seasonal beers.Personal favorite is Point Amber.
Always wanted to do the brewery tour at Stevens Point Brewery and finally did it. I;ve been enjoying their beer for over thirty years and now like it even more. Great tour that lasts about 30 minutes and then beer tasting for the next 45 minutes. Lots of beer choices and even really good soda pop to choose from. A very nice atmosphere and a well stocked souvenir shop made my group very happy. I also walked out with a growler of fresh Point Brewery beer! Highly recommended!
From Start to Finish this brewery has it all! Great history and tour guides that know exactly what they are talking about. Old world history is here perfectly blended with modernization. A gift shop that has something for everyone is topped with excellent quality! You are sure to find a beer that will fast become your favorite and do not forget to try their soda's. Perhaps some of the worlds best kept secrets are all found right here so come in see and taste for yourself.
We've done this tour a few times. I think its my favorite. The Point Brewery has lots of history, and is growing! It has been neat to watch the changes. We'll do this one again in the future.
The tour was nice and enjoyable. Went on a Saturday and very busy. Make sure you make reservations days ahead. Tour guide very friendly. Because it is winter and a Saturday, the bottling part wasnt running. Would like to have seen that in action. Had many flavors to choose from in tasting. Our 7 year old enkoyed tour also and loved that she got to taste the different sodas. Get nice beer glasses at the end. Daughter got a root beer mug. Would recommend the tour. Great history.
Great staff handling the customers, accommodating, friendly and informative. Pretty good beer, would have liked to see a cleaner brewing area.. yeast drippings and puddles on the floor.... But glad they fit us in for the tour.
Last year while in Chippewa Falls, at a café, my wife and I were introduced to Point Soda. Later that same vacation we found a butcher shop that sold us 4, 4pks (We bought a 4pk of each kind) at $2.00 a bottle. Two months later that year we had to be in the Twin Cities and drove to Eau Claire, WI. (Closest town that sold it by the 4 pack) to buy every 4 pack of the soda they had. Their Orange Cream is the best I have ever had. This year we were planning a vacation in Central Wisconsin and decided to make a reservation to tour the brewery. We arrived and were pleasantly greeted by the staff behind the counter, paid for our tour and walked around the gift shop waiting for our tour to begin. When our tour started, my wife and I were getting a private tour, which was informative, very personal and casual. Our tour guide (I wish I could remember her name, Ray.... something) was very energetic, had a wonderful personality and made the tour a wonderful experience. We were later joined by another couple, but the tour maintained it's positive energy. After hearing about the history of the plant and the mascot, viewing the process, the packaging area and their Beer Heaven, we ended up in the hospitality room where we could sample 3 of their products. She proceeded to name off every thing they make at the brewery, which makes your decision extremely difficult. My first selection was, "JP Casper - White Stout." One of the best brews I have tasted. It went down very smooth and I remarked, I could get into serious trouble drinking this. It does not taste like a stout beer, there is white chocolate brewed in, so it tastes more like a milk shake. My next selection was, "Ciderboys Raspberry Smash." Did not care for it at all. Thankfully my wife was with as she likes the fruitier brews, so she finished it and I used one of her coupons for another choice, which was "Amber Classic." It was good and tasted more like the craft brews I have had. My last choice was the "Onyx," a very dark, robust and heavier beer, more like a stout. The samples were at least 8 oz. each, and since my wife and I tried different brews, we actually got to taste 6 of their large selection, and enjoy three of them. I wished they gave smaller samples and the option to taste more of their product line. We left without buying any beer in the gift shop. Several Tripadvisor comments were to buy it elsewhere, it would be cheaper. True, but we had a hard time finding Point Beer in any of the stores we stopped in and never found our favorites the whole time in Wisconsin.I would highly recommend you add this to your traveling plans, one of the best craft brewery tours we have taken. We were already sold on their sodas, now we like their beers as well, which I will have to keep in my memory because the closest place to purchase their products for me is 223 miles away.
Fun place to visit with a great gift shop. looking forward to visiting next summer in September for their annual event.
Nice little side trip: reasonable cost for the tour, plus 2 complementary beers / sodas. Plenty of gifts in gift shop. The beers, especially the pale ales, are excellent
