great place to take my dog, loves the long walks that the park has to offer. also love to take my grandson loves the swings and feeding the ducks
I found it a very interesting museum, with the period street the high light. The grounds are extensive with lots of lovely walks also an exellent children's play area and skate park. An enjoyable day out
Picked a fine day to go which was a positive. The museum has improved no end since the last time we went. It's like going back to your youth with the memorabilia and also the equipment my grandparents used for washing machines, poss tubs and mangles!Worth a visit with the grandchildren then they can play outside on the park itself. The ticket we bought for a fiver lasts twelve months so we will go back again in the summer. Let's hope butterfly world will be pen at the same time.
Great place to relax.Museum is well planned and entertaining.Go early if you have a car as thr car park fills up rapidly.
Great day out for all the family plenty of things to see and do get there by boat from stockton then on to yarm
I visited Preston Park for the first time today and was most impressed with what I found. First of all the park; it is a large and well kept area with an excellent and imaginative playground and skatepark. There is also a butterfly house (which I didn't visit) and a cafe. A major feature of the park is that it provides lots of free space for walking, playing or simply relaxing and the fact that it borders the river and a nature reserve is an added bonus. My main reason for visiting was to see the museum and I must say that I was very impressed. The staff were most welcoming and, as has already been said, the admission prices are fantastic value. The museum exhibits were very well presented and covered quite a range of topics. What I particularly like here is that they concentrate quite heavily on ordinary domestic exhibits, and as many of them are from recently modern times (40s, 50s and 60s) they are instantly recognisable and conjure up wonderful memories of childhood. The highlight of the museum has to be the splendid reconstruction of an old street, with a good variety of shops to look at. Some doors were closed, e.g. the police station, so I guess that those are projects in hand for future development. One place that I was pleased to find open was the tea room, and the cup of tea and excellent cheese scone really hit the spot after an excellent visit. They were also very good value.I really enjoyed my visit here and will certainly come back.Highly recommended.
Nice big play area for the children lots for them to do. Little cafe next to it and food isnt too bad in there. You have the museum to visit too which is educational lots to do here! Worth a pop in...
A very interesting museum with plenty of items to look at. Ranging from old weaponary including a Headmans axe to the wonderful De La Tour, The Diceplayers. Also there is a good collection of Ship Builders Models and shipping related items,A very reasonable admission price as well. The grounds are excellent with lovely walks through the trees down to the River Tees.
Ventured into the museum. Tickets are valid for 1 year. The street at the end of it is good. A few corners need sprucing up but it is interesting. Coffee shop is very reasonably priced. The museum has quite a selection of items. For the size and price it is decent value.
A lovely place for a walk, spoiled today by minimal car parking, not enough for all wanting to use it, but perhaps they are improving the overflow car park for regular use? and the cafe closed at 3.30pm! Why do British tourist attractions close so early? School may close at 3pm, but the holiday lasts till bedtime! Lovely opportunities for photography today, especially by the river. Grounds and car park free. Small charge if you want to visit museum.
