Recently visited with family and friends on a Saturday. Great little local pub, friendly locals and a lovely atmosphere.
Haven't been to the Teal Arms for a couple of months and it was great to come back again.Only a quick visit today but will be coming back for one of their lovely Sunday dinners and to see some friendly familiar faces.
Don't write a lot of reviews but just wanted to write a quick one on the teal. Been here a few years ago and it was ropey at best. Visited again last night with some friends and thought it was great. Great choice of drinks, warm friendly atmosphere and dog friendly. Smashing little pub
Went here for an evening meal with friends, we chose it specifically because it allows dogs, after ordering our food and drinks (over £130 pounds worth) a barman suggested we would like to sit in the conservatory, I pointed out that we had our dogs with us but he said this was fine .After waiting a fair while for our food it finally arrived, absolutely tasteless and bland , even the lasagnes which shouldn't be hard to get that wrong. When our food was almost finished we were approached by a very unkempt scruffy woman who informed us that dogs weren't allowed in the conservatory, we explained that we had been told to take our seats here but she just wouldn't let it go , I finally said maybe she should address it with her staff rather than us. I later found out she was the landlady! So rude and unwelcoming, we shall certainly look elsewhere in future.
Decided to go for lunch with my family, walked into the dining area, as we went to sit down, there was a pile of dog excrement on the carpet, I was that disgusted I walked straight back out.
We went for tea for my partners uncles birthday. We was waiting over an hour for the food to find that when it came the steak was tough, tasted like it had been dipped in water & looked like a piece of shoe leather. I then sent it back and was again waiting another 30 minutes it came a bit more presentable but still tough. My partners mum ordered the same thing and couldn't it eat! We then asked for our money back although the manager was a bit hesitant. I thought the steak was bad enough to find a friend had ordered the BBQ chicken he had started eating from the thin end to find towards the thick end it was raw!! I think it is absolutely appalling how you could serve that sort of food and have a 5 for food and hygiene certificate up on the wall which it says on scores on the doors website was last inspected over two years ago. To make it worse you never even apologised to the gentleman who came to you with the chicken. However your staff was more apologetic than the manager himself!!
Went for a couple of drinks after work, not expecting too much not ever having been here before. We were pleasantly surprised by the real ale options and fairly large menu. Barmaid was very helpful with drinks options and food ordering, and pleasant too. When the food came we were surprised that it was all home made, very fresh and generous portions too! Great value menu for what you get. We are both vegetarian and there were at least four main course options which is rare in small pubs. Much better atmosphere than other pubs in Ingleby Barwick. We will go back for sure.
Me and my partner have been going to The Teal Arms for many years and have seen new management come and go. Since the new management and new staff have taken over The Teal Arms is becoming what it once was. A great atmosphere with friendly staff who always go that extra mile to make you feel welcome. They know many of the customers on a first name basis and ask them what they would like to see happening to make improvements to benefit all. I was coming on here to review my lunchtime visit from yesterday till I spotted the review about how appalling it is, I believe this to be a one off as I have never been made to feel like that since the change over and it's such a shame someone felt that way about their experience. Any way back to my review.... Our most recent visit was for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised (We hadn't had food there till this point with the new management), we both had a starter and main. Our food came out in a timely manner and when they came to collect the starter plates they offered to bring over more drinks rather than us have to go over to the bar during our meal. I hope the standards remain the same that I have experienced and wish them all the luck in making The Teal Arms flourish into what it was many moons ago.
Quiz night, amazing deal of full parmo chips, salad and a pint for £10..absolutely gorgeous..best parmo I've had in ages and THE best pub parmo iv had..garlic sauce was top notch..staff are amazing..very productive..clean tables& toilets..landlord and landlady are the best in the biz..cant wait for the next quiz but hoping to not finish last this time! 10/10
The food itself was as expected, rather nice. However the positives end there. The portions were fit for children and nothing more barely filling our plates let a lone our stomachs. I am a regular visitor to a nearby competitor, the falcon at hilton. I have experienced many lovely nights in that establishment and would heavily recommend it over the teal with its generous portion sizings and lovely staff. The pricing was poor for the food we recieved for an average meal and large meals were very over-priced. The meal came well presented especially the chips in a handy metal basket however it was simply a way to hide the fact were getting about ten chips. Lastly the service from the one member of staff that was on hand was poor to say the least. She decided to question the fact i didnt like garden peas and that i, i quote, "could have saved her money by not getting them" an establishment for food i would not reccomend
