Just imagine a long leisurely walk in a beautiful Tree lined dale surrounded by the sound of birds chirping and babbling waters, followed by a home style lunch in the lush gardens of a restored hunting lodge, and you have Ramblers retreat at Dimmings dale. It's so right!
hours of walks alongside the river and through the woods. brilliant café with HUGE cakes definitely worth a visit afterwards!
Hit the area on a wonderfully sunny September day and could not believe how beautiful the place was! Great for a good walk within lush woodland, valleys, streams, views, rocky outcrops, meadows and lakes! The variety of landscape is amazing. Was very much like being in a Robin Hood/Lord of the Rings kinda medieval world! Definitely now one of my favourite locations :-P
This is a lovely little restaurant in a beautiful location. I haven't tried the evening menu, but based on the quality of the food that I did have , I imagine it would be well worth the trip.
The setting is fantastic with wonderful area for dogs in wet weather a real walkers and dogs paradise . excellence food and snax inside or out dinning room excellent.
Excellent place to visit , good walks excellent food , One of the most dog friendly places , eat out in the various huts ,with your dog .Or eat in the fabulous garden, have been several times as a couple or with never disappointed . the restaurant is superb a rare find indeed.
We have spent a wonderful day here walking and sightseeing.A hidden gem.The Ramblers Retreat is a fabulous place and so dog friendly. The food is great as is the service
great walks through the woods and by the lake. Just a shame that the hedges are a little tall to be able to see from one side properly. Great area to visit and don't miss the chained tree! Wellies or good walking boots recommended
I've seen the signpost to the 'ramblers retreat' many times, and have always meant to go. Well we finally got there and what a lovely place. We had breakfast in the garden sitting next to the small waterfall. My husband had a sausage sandwich, well presented with garnish and nicely cooked. I had wholemeal toast and marmalade, and we had a pot of tea for two. The garden setting was peaceful and comfortable. There were a couple of people with their dogs, and a cyclist, so all were welcome. The menu ranges from breakfast, to cake and coffee, to a three course lunch. Mostly home cooked and locally sourced. You can choose to sit outside or in the conservatory. There is a homely atmosphere and the staff are very pleasant. We shall be returning to sample the delights of the menu.
