got to drive around it quite a bit. was an amazing sight to see. would definitely go for a drive around it to see some other small villages as well
When visiting the Abruzzo do not forget to see the village of Sulmona. Nestled in the valley between the mountains, you can see the remains of the Roman aqueduct which graces the town square. Famous for being the birthplace of Ovid and where the Peligno sugar almond factory can be found. You can spend a few hours wandering around the streets, viewing the churches and seeing all the locally made confectionary, either in the shops or at the Peligno factory( this is the name you will see on all foreign exported sugared almonds) Here they are not just almonds but all sort of confectionary delicacies.Enjoy the market here ( I think this is on a thursday morning) and have a drink at a local cafe.If you visit on Easter Sunday there is a fabulous traditional religious festival. Great Ambience and worth the wait.
Loved everything, but mostly enjoyed our guides from Abruzzo Passion, active holidays provider in Abruzzo. The views, the flowers, the sparkling fresh air, everything superb.
This is an extraordinary National Park that you must take the time to visit - amazing vistas, awe inspiring unique natural structure
Solo vedendoli si può capire... Luoghi magici, quasi immensi. Tanto verde, roccia e animali come mucche, cavalli e pecore. Bellissimo!
What a beautiful drive through this fantastic area. Mountains meet the lakes . You choose your activity or just drive through and enjoy the wonderful scenery.,
We drove from San Valentino to ROCCARASO on the mountain road,at times we look down and could see the tops of the clouds.
For anyone who enjoys walking in the mountains and seeing the lovely alpine flowers Maiella is wonderful
