Had a lovely tour guide take us around Kastelholm's castle. If you are in the area it is worth a visist, especially as the renovations are complete, and have been done to a high standard. From experience a tour guide is recommended as it adds depth to the visit. The ticketing is done well, and Vita Björn is a short yet interesting trip as well.

Slottet inrymmer ett intressant museum och vikingatornerspelen som spelas utanför är verkligen sevärda.

Es casi increíble pensar que este archipiélago fue el lugar de muchas batallas entre rusos, finlandeses y suecos.El castillo de Sund es un ejemplo más de la historia bélica de la zona y, aunque no se pueda describir como un gran monumento arquitectónico, es un agradable destino para pasar la tarde.La remodelación ha sido hecha correctamente y dentro existe una amplia exposición de la historia de los últimos siglos en la provincia.

Ett vackert sceneri som väcker fantasin - men också nyfikenheten kring nordisk historia i allmänhet och Ålands i synnerhet. Besök med guide ger mer, men även på egen hand är det intressant tack vare bra informationsskyltar. Intill finns Jan-Karlsgården (Ålands motsvarighet till Skansen), samt matställe.

Nice old castle to visit, but not much anything special. If the weather is fine, then the visit vill be much more enjoyable.. If you visit here, do not miss the near-by "prison museum".

Schloß Kastelholm muß jeder mal besichtigt haben. Hier wird die gesamte Geschichte der Ålands gut wiedergegeben. Fotomotive soviel man haben möchte. Für Fahrradfahrer lohnt sich der Abstecher ebenso wie für Segler. Der Segelhafen ist nicht weit entfernt. Dem Wanderer bietet sich die Möglichkeit mit dem Bus, nach der Besichtigung, weiterzufahren.

Borgen är väl levandegjord, och man får röra sig runt i den gamla ruinen, något som inte är något för nån med höjdskräck.Utställningarna är pedagogiska och ger en bra bild av borgens uppbyggnad.

Stort stenslott från 1400-talet. Först var det ett mindre slott men genom århundranden så har slottet ökat i storlek. En svensk kung hade slottet som jaktslott. Massor med fakta genom slottet när man gick.

Absolut empfehlenswerter Besuch. Nebst dem sehenswerten Schloss befindet sich in Gehdistanz auch ein sehenswertes Freilichtmuseum. Im Schloss können die Kinder eine Schatzsuche machen – leider nur auf Schwedisch, aber auch fremdsprachige Kinder können die Schatztruhen suchen und die Puzzles mitmachen.

We took the bus out of Mariehamn and enjoyed the pretty drive to Sund. We had a great lunch followed by a climb round the castle walls as we learned the history of the place. Next door is the open air museum with an interesting collection of Åland buildings, which is included in the price. Well worth a look.
