Tasting Room was comfy and the staff was very friendly. We went home with Forte, their port. I am not usually a fan, but this changed my mind. Cute gift items as well!
My husband and I visit wineries frequently. We usually share one tasting, and buy one bottle. At Scott Harvey, we purchased two bottles. The wine was tasty and yet not over-priced. We liked "One Last Kiss" - especially the "look" of the bottle, the name of the wine, and the fact that our son is getting married soon - and we are purchasing the wine for the wedding. A tasty wine and a reasonable price - a wine that is a real candidate for the upcoming wedding. We really enjoyed talking with the woman who poured our wine, a Sutter Creek local. She enjoyed her job, enjoyed Sutter Creek, and seemed to like talking with us. This is worth the visit if you like wine.
I've also enjoyed the Scott Harvey wines. The Barberas have always been amazing but it was a little shy of my expectation this year. The reislings from New York grapes have always been my favorite but there was no production this year. Overall, the wines at Scott Harvey have always been wonderful. This year, my favorite was its $40 port. I'm not a port drinker but this one was wonderful!
The Barbera is excellent...as are most of their wines!
Scott Harvey is a master wine maker. His reds are the best. Great place to stop in for a tasting after strolling thru downtown Sutter Creek.
Great wines we bought several bottles. Their 1861 ZIN is fabulous and a good value at $40 bucks.
we were part of a group that did an after hours wine tasting here. The two ladies pouring the wine were obviously huge fans of the wines and of their work. Friendly, informative, but never pretentious like some places in NApa have gotten to be lately.
This was our second time visiting the tasting room (first was in 2012). The wines were good as we expected. One of the best things was the knowledge and friendliness of the tasting room staff. It is always good to learn something about wines as well as be made feel comfortable and welcome.
Scott Harvey is an energentic winemaker and makes wines from all over California so there is an interesting variety to choose from. The staff is knowlegable and friendly. Well worth a stop.
We thought the wines were great, and they let you taste as many as you pleased at no cost. We just read today in Sunset Magazine (11/2012) that the Scott Harvey Zinfandel won a Gold Medal in the Sunset 2012 Wine Competition, so this very nice tasting room is well worth a stop.
