  This excellent theatre is an oasis in a rural area which has very few high-class entertainment venues. Its catchment area spreads over a 100 km around. It's offerings are mixed, but often it hosts top quality Australian and international theatre, music and variety acts. It is well worth keeping an eye on the website to be informed about upcoming events.

  For such a small city Taree is blessed to have such a good venue, there is plenty of parking creating a good feeling when you arrive, the foyer and bar area are adequate and access to seating is easy. Bathroom facilities were clean and fresh with handicapped guests catered for, at no time did one feel crowded in any area of the complex. We were fortunate to see two remarkable programs over three days, both were rather load given the size of the auditorium, however as a community venue the MEC does a great job. I gather that the ushers are volunteers, they do a sterling job and should be commended, lots of smiles and delightful welcomes. These were the 6th and 7th visits to the MEC and we will be back whenever they present programs that appeal to us. Being baby boomers we have eclectic tastes so will no doubt be back there soon.
