Nice way to spend a few hours. Beautiful, quiet park with some great views. Take a picnic lunch and stay the day
Beautiful gardens around the Villa. A wonderful collection of sculptures, furniture and paintings throughout the villa. Well worth a 2 to 3 hour stop in your day. From the property you will see the gardens that are on the hillside across the lake. There is a Lake Como boat service that will take you across to Bellagio and the gardens on the opposing hillside. Bellagio is extremely charming, hillside town with shops and restaurants all about. Enjoy this beautiful part of Lake Como. Villa Carlotta in the morning and Bellagio for the afternoon and evening would be my recommendation. Enjoy!!!!
The house felt rather cold to me. True there are some amazing marble statuary pieces and beautiful paintings. But no photography (even non-flash) was allowed and you couldn't buy any small picture books. So the memories of the house are going to be difficult to recall. But the gardens--oh my, they were gorgeous even in early March! Be careful--some of the pathways are mini mazes that will trick you into retracing your steps.
welcome! its a very nice place at Como, absolutely great garden, nice villa, great views, there is not too much tourists. I was here at the second day of my brother wedding, i think its very nice attraction for all wedding guests
Brilliant place, would be even more so in May/June as there are huge numbers of Rhodedendrums and Azaleas. Unfortunately it was raining when we visited so unable to see all the gardens but they certainly looked stunning from the House, which in itself is worth the visit with stunning paintings, furnishings and sculptures in every room.
Villa Carlotta was a relaxing and breathe-taking experience as we strolled through the grounds. It was not crowded and we were able to spend as much time as we cared to. The grounds have so much beauty to gaze upon and places to sit and just take in the sights. We enjoyed watching some artists at work with their canvas and paints about them as well as some preferred penciling the scenic views. As for us, our camera was our choice as we could never have just picked one view to remember since we were traveling from the United States.I would recommend going if you are not in any hurry.
There 's not many places in this world with such fabulous garden full of immaculately trimmed plants and wind eroded sculptures and art pieces. Absolutely beautiful against the backdrop of magical Lake Comoros and snow capped mountains, this is an enchanting place to behold.
Came here late about 1.5 hours from the closing time. Hence, there were empty parking spaces just outside the villa. And its free! Villa Carlotta has a huge garden, with many species of plants! When you are on a higher level in the garden, you get to see the view of lake Como and the opposite bank. In the building, I enjoyed the sculptures a lot more than the paintings!p.s. the villa is only opened till 9 Nov 2014, and for the winter season, it could be closed. Check their website before visiting!!
We have spent a good couple of hours in this villa and gardens. Beautiful and well mantained, my little girl loved to run around. Amazing views too!
Amazing building and artworks surrounded by grounds with what seems like endless gardens which take you through a winding display of specialised areas of various themes from tropical to mediteranean. The views from the Villa are stunningly beautiful with backdrops of the gardens, lake and the mountains
