Rita KI took 3 friends on a 250-mile, "destination unknown", excursion for a great day at Irish Acres. They thoroughly enjoyed the intriguing displays of merchandise, the delicious food, and the warm hospitaity. I've made this trip at least 12 times. I have NEVER been disappointed!
Irish Acres is an amazing collection of antiques and nearly antiques displayed in a museum-like setting. My mom and I browsed the entirety with wonder and appreciation. A special luncheon was also available. Even the boutique items were gorgeous with tempting jewelry, albums and accessories. If you love antiques, this is a must-see destination.
If you like antiques this is the place for you!....not a peddler's mall antique, but fine antiques for the high rollers. Just walking around and seeing the settings and how beautiful everything is gives it a wow factor that justifies the travel. I haven't been to The Glitz but everyone says it lives up to its billing. Irish Acres is not for young children.
Irish Acres and The Glitz Tea Room are absolutely amazing! The decor is stunning! I felt like I was in a Southern Living Magazine with the most gorgeous antiques ever! Fabulous food at The Glitz! Be sure to purchase The Glitz cookbook! The two owner gals are darling and very hospitable! I look forward to going there again!
Irish Acres is a one-of-a-kind incredible destination. You can't really say it is "like" something that you have seen before--because there is nothing else like it! There are 50 rooms + open areas FILLED to the ceiling with antiques. But to say that sounds like it is a warehouse, when in essence, it is a "showroom" of incredible products. When visiting Irish Acres, you not only get to see beautiful antiques, but you get to glimpse the style, flavor and feel of each period of history, taking a walk back through time...It is not just a visit, it is an experience!
While on my travels around the country, I am always searching to visit the best antique shops. Irish Acres was highly recommended and it exceeded my expectations! It is a bit of a drive through horse country, however, it is absolutely beautiful country to drive through in the midst of picturesque horse farms. The sisters who own this quaint old schoolhouse, transformed antique trove, are as charming as the merchandise that fills the three floors of this historic building. They are most knowledgable of every item's provenance and are happy to share history or details relating to each piece. This is a family business that goes back generations and many of the pieces (furniture and decorative) are worthy of museum quality, either from within their family or acquired from very large important estates. Make sure to set aside a few hours to enjoy this treasure and make reservations in their Glitz tearoom for lunch which has wonderful reviews. This is a must go to whenever in the Lexington area!!
This is truly a one of a kind antique establishment. You will be suprised at what you find here. Very classy, elegant items fill this antique store. Prices are not cheap, but the quality is the best. Items are staged in vingettes, not thrown into booths. Friendly staff, and the food at the Glitz is fantastic. Be sure to allow yourself a couple of hours to browse here.
My wife and I took her parents for a birthday gift. The food at the restaurant was delicious and I've never had grape cobbler. It was to fire for! The floors of antigues were fabulous.
A beautiful place with an awesome restaurant in the basement...The Glitz. We look forward to visting this place very time we vist my mother in Kentuncky. It is a true gem located way back in the country. As soon as you open the doors to this place, you are amazed. The place is always beautiful decorated and all the antinques are placed perfectly. It is so clean and the quality of the items is excellent. If you are looking for something , I bet you would find it here. It makes you feel like you are taking a history lesson back in time, to see some of the most treasured antiques. Don't leave without eating at the Glitz, it is a wonderful experience. The food is amazing and their signature dessert, Nonsuch Kiss, is to die for. All the food items are made fresh and have outstanding flavor. This place is a true gem and you are missing out if you dont take a trip to see it.
Beautifully renovated old school building out in the Bluegrass country side of Kentucky. There is much to see with a large number of booths. There is art deco reproduction jewelry & purses as well as a few selections of unique ladies scarves and wraps. Items a bit on the pricey side but if you love antiques, make the trek.
