The museum has a lot of local stuff packed in. Some is from Route 66, some Rail Road and some fun old desert stuff. We spent about 1 hour and enjoyed the visit. The staff were great and very helpful and gave us great information on the part of Route 66 we were going on the next day between Victorville and Barstow. They have a very nice shop for Route 66 stuff at pretty good prices. If you are interested in old Route 66 this is a must stop museum in an old building right on the old Route on the east end of town.
This is a nice break while driving through the high desert. You can't beat the price - it's FREE. Staffed by friendly volunteers (mostly retirees) who are more than happy to explain this stretch of old Route 66 to any person that walks in. The exhibits are a lot of donated memorabilia and range from the very interesting to the mundane, all a part of the Route 66 legacy. Do visit the informal gift shop in the front corner of the building and help support this historical window on America's transportation past.
Everything. it is a walk back in time. Easy access and contributions accepted. Friendly and helpful docents.
While exploring the US Route 66 I visited the museum in Victorville. If your interested in route 66 it's a must see. The staff was very friendly. The museum was outstanding. The gift shop had great gifts and ample information to guide you on your journey. Many handouts are available at no charge.
Any one doing route 66 must stop here. The staff are very friendly, have excellent local knowledge of the Route 66 and give good advice. The museum is a fun place to go.
Every guest who stays with us is treated to a stop at the California Route 66 Museum. We have many visitors from New York City, which is chock full of grand museums, and our visitors REALLY like this museum. The California Route 66 Museum is small but mighty; well worth the visit.
Visited the museum and it just brought me back in time. Wonderful staff just full of great information. Museum is free but donations can be made and I did. Took picture sitting in an old Volkswagon "Hippy Van". Very small museum and you can do it quickly or take more time when something of great interest comes up. I will go back if in Victorville.
We were really pleased to find the Route 66 Museum in Victorville. Absolutely loads and loads of memorabilia related to Route 66. We were shown around by an absolute angel of a man, thank you Lou, who had a fantastic knowledge of all the exhibits, he even let me choose some tracks on the jukebox, then told me it was worth a million dollars !! Absolutely no rush to walk around, you just go at your own pace. The shop was very good especially T shirts which I later saw in LA for 10$ more. The museum is staffed by volunteers who really do care about what they are doing. No admission charge but donations are welcome. Spend some time here and also spend some money to keep this museum going.
Words can not describe the experience at this location. It is a MUST SEE on the way to or from LA or Las Vegas... I was suppose to be in and out in half an hour but ended up spending above 2 and half hour. The entire tour of the place is free. There are local volunteer to take you around and describe the entire history one piece at a time. Lot of the items were acquired through donations. The place is divided into 3 areas and a gift shop but the highlights were an old refurbish jukebox, old diner booth area, a classic vehicle and front of scooby doo van. Make sure to take a picture in the old school toilet! Please donate something as the entire place runs on donation and the staff taking everyone around is a volunteer. The gift shop is quite fascinating and interesting, so make sure you check it out. They also have a nice board where people have been leaving their countries currency, so if you country's coin or note is not their make sure to stick it up.I highly recommend a stop over to this awesome place!
