Well paced and educational tour with very good guide (Ben). Interesting insight into the life of a miner in historical Walhalla. Museum worth a look before or after the tour. Various walking options to and from the mine site. Can also park at the front door. Reasonable value.
I felt a learb a lot about minig on this tour, its an easy walk in the mine and really makes you appreciate how hard they worked. Give this place and yge town a visit, it is only small but both tour and town will make you feel welcome!
Interesting tour with knowledgable guide who knew her stuff with stories about the men and the hardships of gold mining in the 1800 and 1900s
Informative guide, fascinating history, nothing to 'not like'. If possible be part of a small group so you can better hear/see.
brought back a lot of memories when we were little people we us2 sneek in there from a wind tunnel on the side of the hill never realy found any gold but it was good sneaky fun 2 watch all the oldie,s workin in there long an short u now get a guided tour and explanations re the workings etc which is quite interesting well worth going and having a tour if u r into that side of things it lasts about an hour long an short it puts an explanation in your head well worth doing
Rae is a mine of information (pardon the pun) and brings history to life. You walk away with a strong appreciation for not having to be a 19th century gold miner!
Very interesting tour conducted by Jane, the tunnel is easy walking and has lots of points of interest, the large underground man made cavern that housed 2 big boilers and the chimney dug up through the rock.
Thanks to our guide; Ben, the tour was extremely informative & an amazing insight into Victoria's Gold Rush history & what life would have been like for the miners as well as the rest of the community during the late 1800's & early 1900's.The museum is also definitely worth a look too.Whilst there is car parking available near the mine entrance, it is only a short walk up the road from the centre of town or you could take the scenic route along the Tramline Walkway that is nestled into the side of the mountain overlooking the entire town. You absolutely cannot visit Walhalla without taking the mine tour!
A wonderful, well-informed 45mins- 1 hour inside a historic gold mine. Gives you some great insights into what it would have been like working on the mine in the 1880s etc. We took 3 small children in - 3 year old and baby struggled tour a bit too long for them (but you can always leave early and just make your own way out if you tell the tour guide what you are doing). the 5 year old loved it. Really interesting and well worth doing.
Knowledgable local tour guide takes you through the underground mines, interesting stories about what happened during the mining years.... You will be amazed by all the different tunnels beneath the Walhalla township,
