I went here for a wedding and it was very quiet, great scenery, the food was some of the best wedding food I have ever had, an the staff was so professional!
Went here on Sunday for their once a month brunch. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be pulling up to the Mansion. The website definitely has very good pictures of the place, and well I was just expecting more. The yard is very beautiful, but I wouldn't call the place grandiose in anyway. The entrance into the Mansion is very nice, and then you step into the banquet room for brunch and you feel like you stepped into Olive Garden (except tackier). The art is cheesy at best. The bathroom is the size of a closet, and the toilet is well worn.It doesn't appear that you can take a walk around the mansion or in any of the other rooms. I'm sure this place could be quite stunning for a wedding (the other rooms might be quite beautiful), but as far as for a visit for lunch, well, I definitely wouldn't drive out from Sacramento again unless they were going to offer a tour or some other attraction. The service was good, the food was fine, and the metal outdoor furniture was a little uncomfortable.
This is what I think of when I think of a historic "mansion". Difficult to find. Getting there is 1/2 the fun. Go on a nice afternoon.
My friend held his wedding which I attended here. The estate was and mansion were beautiful and the package catering service were equally impressive and satisfying. There was a nice pool on the premises, several dining halls catering to various meal function rooms, as well as a reception terrace and garden lawn and fountain for the garden party and main ceremony. Bride and Groom Suite and separate suites for accompanying family members and friends were conveniently arranged in finely adorned and grandly decorated rooms on the second and third floors with social rooms connecting them for meetups. I hope to return someday for my own grand wedding ceremony!
Last December, (2012), we were invited to a wedding that was to be at the Grand Island Mansion in Walnut Grove, Ca. From the time we found the Mansion, we were absolutely amazed at the building, grounds and the service we received. The wedding was an outdoor venue, (thank god the weather complied). The setting was completely "storybook". Later, at the wedding dinner we thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. Later still at the reception, the service coninued through the night. Great job Grand Island Mansion.
this is a beautiful mansion for having weddings or other catered affairs. Can hold up to 350 people. Very accomodating and good food
It was a fairy tale location for our wedding. Lovely day, lovely friends, etc. The waterside location was perfect as was the regal decor and tasty food. Perfect size also!
My wife and I were told about this place from people that were going there for a wedding. We looked at the reviews and saw many people thought it was a great place for a wedding. So we decided to go there for our anniversary. The grounds were nice but when we stepped inside we could smell the age. It wasn't bad or overpowering but it was there. We were sat in the back of the room. We asked if this was the ballroom or the dining room they said it was both. We sat there for a little to soak in the ambiance, again it was nice but... It was loud and as they sat more people it got louder. We asked to be moved to another table. We were told we could not be moved there because it was reserved for a party that was arriving at 12:30pm. I looked at my watch it was 10:15am.My wife and I walked to the buffet and got our food. The food was presented well. I like my hot food hot, not barely warm. It was hard to enjoy the food when it is barely warm and we cannot hear each other talk at a small table.Once we finished we decided to leave since we were not enjoying anything. As we were leaving we noticed another dining area off to the side. We asked about that room and was told we could have been placed there, all we had to do was ask. Next time we come just ask to be sat there.Maybe we will go to a wedding there but I doubt if we will be back for the buffet.
I attended a wedding at the Grand Island Mansion and was very impressed. The decorations and food was very tastefully done. The place is beautiful and a perfect setting for a wedding.
This mansion must have been "The Place" in it's early days. We attended a wedding there several years ago and found it spellbindingly magnificent. The food served was exquisite, the service impeccable. One great "Big Occasion" venue. Down by the riverside in old growth it just sparkled.
