This park is being renovated but offers a great place to walk, sit and view the ponds, have children in the playground area or take pictures on the bridge. A jewel in the city

My family including our dog goes almost everyday for the past 15 years. Part of its beauty is due to Olmstead whose birthday we must now celebrate:Frederick Law Olmsted (April 26, 1822)Art ThroughTimeIn 1857, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux designed Central Park in New York City as a work of art, a space distinct from the urban life. Learn how this park was deliberately designed and constructed with a sensitivity to nature in Art Through Time, program 10, “The Natural World.” See the “Lagoon Bird’s-Eye View” photo of Olmsted’s design of the Chicago World’s Fair site in Activity 2: Campaign for World’s Fair 2010 of Primary Sources, workshop 5, “Cans, Coal, and Corporations.” Consider how this city design and the design of Central Park have inspired future urban landscape plans. Frederick Law Olmsted was also a writer. He wrote about the differences between Northern and Southern societies during the 1850s, and critiqued the slave labor practices of the South vs. the paid labor of the North. Watch the video for A Biography of America, program 9, “Slavery.” For additional April birthdays, including Eadweard Muybridge (April 9, 1830) and Johann Carl Friedrich Gauss (April 30, 1777), see the April 2013 update.
The park is open and inviting. There are 2 water areas in the park with a nice path around them both. A very nice playground for the kids. There are bathroom facilities available. Lots of places to eat near by.
Elm Park is the heart of Worcester in many ways, but it doesn't really rate as a world-class tourist attraction. They periodically have interesting outdoor art exhibits and birds (ducks, geese, hawks) are attracted to the water. But, it does need some upgrades to be completed that are taking way too much time.
Worth a visit with it's quaint bridges and water areas. Occasional art work and concerts. Playground for children. The negative is that two busy roads border the park.
This dog-friendly park is a welcomed respite downtown Worcester. Although parking can be a challenge, there are scenic walkways and plenty of places to sit and read, watch the pond, have a picnic, etc. Recommend as a mini-getaway during a busy day.
This park is always busy during the summer months and there are always activities going on. Nice little park to have a picnic, watch the ducks, or play with the children.
