We love the waterside tables where the sunset and offshore islands make for a great view. The margaritas are very good, the entertainment is nice (and often), and the food is good. We ate the seared tuna steak sandwich and the cheeseburger during this lunch visit. We've never had a poor visit to the Sunset Pier. (five or six visits over two years)
Key West is one of the nicer hang out spots in Key West but the trouble is like most spots here they're crowded because everyone knows about them. The pier has a nice restaurant that's expensive with slow service when busy (but that's another separate review), so you can grab a bit or I drink while you enjoy the look on the water and the sound of wave runners swiftly passing by.
This place is a must see. It is GREAT! vendors and street performers every evening. Also, a perfect place to watch the sunset. it is absolutely perfect. The boats come past there and everyone yells and waves at each other. Just good. Everyone does needs to be here at sunset.
Live music was nice. A nice place to have a nice meal. It was crowded so you had to get there early. Mallory Place had a better view of the sun actually setting, (the island blocked the full descent)
Very beautiful sunset and wonderful, talented performers!!!!! Get there early so you can watch a few of the different acts....well worth it!!
We ended up at Sunset Pier on our second night in Key West. My husband did not enjoy being 5 people deep watching the sunset together at Mallory Square so he wanted to do something different for our second night. I ended up finding Sunset Pier. It was a great spot. We got there early enough that we got front row seating. Our view ended up being slightly blocked by Sunset Key, but it was still great. The live music was fun.
I know, I know.. You've seen a sunset before. Even still, it's worth going here to experience it set over the Gulf while sipping on your favorite drink. You can also people watch as the vendors set up for the evening entertainment and catch a bit of Catman's show and wonder how long it will be until he ends up in a strait jacket. The street performers are actually quite good! See it once to check it off the bucket list and then you can move on down Duval St.
It was fun watching the crowds headed west down Duvall Street to be in time for the sunset.... Sort of like seagulls facing the setting sun on a beach. But, there was music, dancing, laughter, and plenty of liquid entertainment. But, there is no requirement to do anything, spend any money. The sunset is free and the party is a blast to watch.
Nice place to walk around and view the sunsets. If you interested in watching the cruise ships, go prior to sunset and watch while they leave the dock.
Good drinks and cocktails, great setting and views, food pretty good too. Expensive. Staff ok but service could be slow.
