I went there in November 2014 and the place has covered with full of snows. We took cable car up to the hill and you can see very nice Sapporo city scenery. The environment and the cafe are clean. Love the place.
Just an hour from downtown Sapporo by coach service during winter ski season. The slopes are great for both advanced and beginners and well maintained. Staff in the ski school and rental shop are very helpful and efficient though they could do with more English-speakers for the few non-Japanese skiers. If you want an English speaking ski instructor, I strongly recommend booking ahead. The rental prices for the skis and boots, helmets and even jackets are very reasonable. The food in the family canteen are generously portioned and tastes great and do not hurt the wallet. There is little else to do here though if you do not ski or snowboard. Maybe they should make a tubing slope too. Just don't forget to stop skiing in time to catch the coach back to Sapporo. There is no accommodation available here.
It is my first time going japan, Hokkaido. OMG! IS SNOWING OVER THERE! BEAUTIFUL PLACE! IS AMAZING. I really enjoy a lot. You wont feel like coming back when you are over there. I would highly recommend you to go especially when is WINTER!
We took the 7:20am bus from Keio Plaza Hotel (next to Sapporo Station) reaching the ski place by 9:10a.m. We booked ahead an english speaking private coach. It is 21500 yen for 2x2hr sessions including gear. The lift ticket is 3500 yen for a day. The facilities are reasonably maintained. Most skiers were locals. We returned on the 4:30 bus reaching the hotel by 6:10. It was my son's first lesson and he enjoyed it very much.
Good to take the ski lift up to the top to see the views and the famous ski jump. There was snow on the ground which helped to create the right atmosphere. It would be advisable to make time to try the various snow activities simulations in the Ski Museum.
What a surprise this was. My local Japanese hosts thought it might be good to visit this place so I could get a birds eye view of Sapporo. They weren't wrong. But even they were pleasantly surprised with the winter sports museum at the home of the Sapporo Winter Olympics. Lots of interactive exhibitions which kids (and us big kids) really enjoyed. Was a really fun time and an unexpected surprise
During no event period this place is so quiet and nothing much to comment. You can see the Sapporo City but the view is not really fantastic as the tree branches will block your camera view.
I've sometimes enjoyed ski at Sapporo Kokusai skiing ground because it's had good conditions of snow even though it's been small scale. However, it had hard snow in late Sep this time. I was disappointed with this situation because I came here to expect powder snow. You might visit here until middle of Sep. if you want powder snow.
