The Red Dog is my favorite place in the world. The Vatican? Pfft Notre Dame? Meh. The Bufadora? Are you kidding? Red Dog Rocks!
We stopped in the Red Dog Saloon to grab a drink and rest for a bit while we shopped in Juneau. What a fun place! Yes, it was crowed and noisy, but that just made it more fun. When we were there they had a gentleman playing guitar and singing. He was so awesome, funny and so entertaining. The saloon itself was visually entertaining with signs and memorabilia everywhere. The beer was cold, the prices good and the giftshop great. This place is a must see when you're in Juneau.
From walking through the swinging doors to the sawdust covered floor to the staff in period costume this place was, as advertised, 'Alaska Fabulous'. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance which includes a lot of memorabilia and other interesting artifacts everywhere you look. We had the recommended Denali BBQ Beef sandwich which was very good. I decided to try a "Duck Fart", one of the saloon favorite drinks which is a shot of Kahlua, Bailey's, and Crown Royal. Yummy, which is why I had 2 :) I saw families there on our day, but, as we were there during a cruise excurision I can't speak to the night life. Worth the stop.
If you are visiting Alaska and you are in Juneau you must visit the Red Dog Saloon which will take you back in time and give you a fantastic experience as it’s live with music and fabulous staff dressed in the era of gold digging. Whilst you are there have a good look round the town as it’s a step back in time. Another wonderful day.
This was a bit of fun - ducking in for a look and a couple of beers as we had time to kill on and Alaskan cruise which docked for a day in Juneau. We'd already been zip-lining, so this was just for a couple of hours before the ship departed. The waitresses in costume were sweet, the ambiance quirky, and the entertainment (an old guy playing tunes on the keyboard and cracking jokes) was fun.We would have another beer or two there if we found ourselves in Juneau again. Definitely have a look!
This saloon was the funniest place to stop in Juneau. Red Dog seems to attract the tourist by the swarms. A great stop with pumping music and cold drinks. The gift shop next door has a few cool items you might want to pick up!
Spent more than an hour enjoying a few Alaska Whites, a very entertaining funny man musician and lots of other tourists from all over the world. The gift shop next door is awesome. This saloon was one of the highlights of our trip.
We had a great time at the Red Dog getting some appetizers and the obligatory beer with a shot on the side. Great music, friendly folks around to chat it up with and of course all the ambiance you would expect from a tourist bar like this. Definitely recommend the Red Dog if you are in town visiting.
Could only spend an hour here, what a place, sawdust on the floor, a man playing the piano, some colourful songs, the waitresses in costume, good service and a great atmosphere, the place was jumping mid afternoon. Lots of artefacts and memorabilia in the place, certainly unique.
We stopped at the Red Dog Saloon in Juneau, while on a cruise. It is much like it was about a century ago, with sawdust on the floor. We were there for about an hour, while Brian Gale sang and entertained everyone. He is quite comical as well, and the staff add to the fun of his songs. It was a good experience, would have liked to stay longer.
