Husband and I stopped in here during our honeymoon and explored the exhibits and the artwork in the gallery section. Fantastic views off the back deck, even in inclement weather and a great place for a hot cup of tea and a shared piece of dessert.
A beautiful centre full of history and information as well as a store. Great representations of the birds, animals and fish that populate the park! Well worth visiting!
The Visitor Centre is a great start to your visit to the park. The centre is full of information about the trails, wildlife that you will see in the park and gives visitors an opportunity to report some of the things they have seen for other travelers. Lots of things to learn about from experts, beautiful displays, of course a gift shop and if you are hungry an excellent cafeteria. A must do if you are visiting the park. Great for children and people of all ages to learn about one of the most beautiful parks in the world.
Was once again in the "new museum" at Algonquin Park in fall of 2014. The permanent installations have had a slight update since my last visit from a few years ago. The rotating art exhibition in the front gallery, I was able to see two different exhibits over my two week stay, was very impressive. Had a lunch time meal there, after we finished the Beaver Pond Trail. The food was served in a cafeteria style, but was delicious.I would highly recommend this building for a visit, for anyone visiting Algonquin Park. It really opens your eyes to the wonders that just wait outside its doors.
No visit to Algonquin is complete without stopping at the Visitors Centre. The displays, information and art exhibits are always changing. The Bookstore has alot of souveniers, books, videos, clothing and maps etc. for sale. Stacey Finch and The Friends of Algonquin Volunteers who maintain the store are very knowledgeable and would love to answer your questions and help you make the most of your visit. Check it out.
Great place to spend an hour or two. Bring your binoculars for the viewing deck. We've seen bears and moose...
Nothing short of breathtaking. Drove out here one random day with the hope of catching a glimpse of a wandering grizzly, but instead a couple of moose stepped out in front of us. Fortunately I was paying full attention and managed to stop as the two giant beasts walked past my car with not even a dirty look at my gob smacked face. Beautiful park, a joy to drive to, through and around. Stopped at the visitors centre and took a look at the view out the back. I had, and still now, have not the words to describe it. Amazing.
This Visitor Centre is excellent. There are great displays inside and a beautiful outside viewing area as well. The cafeteria serves very good food and the prices are decent. The gift shop is quite nice and well stocked with books, souvenirs and t shirts.
The knowledge assimilation here is essential and its movie is a great start to a wonderful weekend. The beaver pond recreation is very informative and well made.
We loved how knowledgeable the staff was and how they were easily available. Easy access to people and goods
