Entertaining and educational - plus it's free! Exhibits are very nicely done with signage explaining all. Receptionist is available to answer questions and is friendly. Gift shop. Located downtown so easily accessible.
Housed in the former Holland Post Office the building's architecture and skillful layout of the exhibits make this a very enjoyable part of any trip to Holland. The Local History Gallery was such a delight to tour, open and easy access. Especially rewarding was the fine collection of Dutch paintings. We left with a greater appreciation of the unique culture of Holland and the Dutch people.
Small museum giving lots of information about the history of Holland and with special exhibitions (we saw one about the Nazis in Holland (Europe) which was fascinating. Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in finding out about where you are staying. There is a small charge but small museums like this need our contributions to keep going so I think it's worth it.
While at Tulip Festival my sister and I went to the Holland Museum. They had some interesting exhibits from the early years, paintings, furniture. Some really interesting pieces. There were people available to answer any questions and tell you more facts about the exhibits. It was well worth the price of admission and took about an hour.
different displays, many related to the local Dutch heritage. Welcoming atmosphere, attendants very helpful and willing to guide you through displays.
There are other things in the museum but I especially enjoyed the Dutch exhibits and history of the town. Things are nicely displayed and there is someone available to give you additional information should you want it. Parking is located just behind the museum or if you are lucky, there is street parking also. If you are a visitor to Holland, make it a must see!
we went here just to kill some time with the family while we were all together and actually enjoyed the day. it was very quiet and no one else was there which is a shame as it is very nice. local history is the theme. very odd hours. you will want to check in advance if they are open on the date you wish to go.
There are some magnificent paintings upstairs. Ask about the love story relating to the spectacular oil on wood portraits.
I really liked the temporary exhibits and the permanent exhibit was very nice as well. The admission was $10 per person though (I think) and I think that was a bit expensive for the amount of things to see in the museum. It was nice nonetheless.
We like to stop at this museum at least once a year, the exhibits chance often, and it is always a fun and interesting experience.
