A nice square, old fashioned in a way. Plenty of restaurants, shops and some good people watching. The public transit [MARTA] stops right at the square. Good way to kill an afternoon.

Decatur's Square has something for everyone. There are bookstores, restuarants, boutiques, antique shops, and pubs. It's a lively place especially in the spring and summer, Most of the restuarants have patios for people watching and enjoying the Georgia sunshine. In the spring there are festivals and concerts usually free and open to the public The Marta train station is right below the square as well.. Families, couples and those going solo can look forward to a good time on the square in Decatur.
We were out and about so nipped in to get a brew. Good variety of beers and well presented in special glasses, plenty of seating. Service was a little slow (but we were there during the afternoon, so not may staff on.

People are so friendly and weather you want a full meal or a quick snack there are plenty of options. The surrounding streets are also filled with little shops and restaurants. We enjoy visiting the square when we're in town visiting family. Excellent shops, restaurants, coffee shoppes, ice cream and candy stores, and free parking. Delightful.
The square in downtown Decatur is exactly what you would expect in a Georgia town. Most people that you pass are friendly. Sometimes, you have to stop & wait for the people in front of you to finish their conversations with someone they just met in passing. The shops and restaurants are all unique.
We were really surprised and impressed by Decatur's Square. We weren't sure what we were coming up on, but all the shops looked fun and there was a plethora of delicious smelling food. It was very lively and busy, and we saw a few police officers patrolling the area who seemed friendly with the locals. Overall we wished we'd known how great this was so we could have come to dinner earlier and spent some time wandering in and out of the shops before our reservation!
