Had a great time. Arrived really cold on the motorcycle and Emmy and Shaun made us at home with a hot cup of coffee. Met Rusty the goat and Toni the llama. It was a short two hour ride but beautiful country and Emmy was very good and even took great pics for us. It was a celebration of our 40th anniversary and we loved it.
We did a half day ride with Buck's. It was well worth it, our wrangler Shawn and his faithful dog Chili took us out on a great ride. Awesome scenery to see and Shawn was kind enough to take pictures for us.We had a great time and would do this ride again!!!
Thank you Jim, for taking the time to write a review on your ride. So glad you enjoyed our stock and appreciated the quality guide that Shawn is for Buck's Livery. As far as our rates go ... we long for the days when we could charge $8.00 an hour! Unfortunately, a bale of hay is now $12.00 and these mighty steeds just don't have a key to turn them on and off ! :-) It used to be just a couple bucks a bale... dang it! And unfortunately, insurance is 17 times what it was when we started. Yikes! I could go on and on.. and I sure don't want to do that! We, all of us at Buck's, want to simply say "Thank you so much for bringing your family to Buck's Livery. And we are truly grateful for your business." Sincerely,Mindy Breed and the staff at Buck's Livery Inc.
Thank you so much Summer for taking the time to write a review! So glad you enjoyed Aaron as well. He does such a great job with our guests and all of our horses/mules as well! Thanks for letting everyone know! Glad you got to see some of the cool critters in our beautiful San Juans Mountains.. Come back and see us. Mindy and Ben Breed - Buck's Livery owners
For all attractions in Durango, you really need to make reservations because activities fill up fast. My daughter had her heart set on a trail ride, but I didn't make a reservation in advance like I did with our other activities. Thankfully, they squeezed in a one hour trail ride for my daughter and my father on our last day in Durango. Everyone was super friendly. There were picnic tables available for us non-riders and the employees all stopped by to chat and made us feel welcome. There was even a llama to pet and look at.
Having an equestrian in the family, who has her own horse, we were looking for a different trail ride experience. Saw Buck's across from Purgatory resort and looked them up online. Liked the variety of rides they offered and opted for their "special" 2 hour ride. This was a private ride based on out level of riding experience. Had Sean the wrangler as our guide. He was friendly, engaging and knowledgable. Saw some power line workers who mentioned seeing a bear nearby but Sean was calm and cool about it and that helped ease my mind (a little). We never saw the bear but he was prepared. Beautiful scenery and many photo opportunities along the way. The horses were easy going and easy to control. They were well suited for us. Sean helped us out if they were hard to control. Ride was not nose to tail experience that we've all done before.
When my wife, Ina, book this 'special' outing we both expected to somehow be stuck in a line. Well that did not happen. Emmy graciously allowed us to take the lead. As experienced english riders we had an absolute hoot trotting and cantering (or Loping in western terms) through the woods. Accompanied by a goat and dog and of course Emmy as our hostess. We could not have asked for more in this stunning countryside.THANK YOU EMMY!!!
We had our first horseback experience yesterday ... some very short 2 hours, even for absolute beginners. The weather was great, a sunny and warm morning, when we arrived everything was prepared. Location is beautifull, and Emmy very warm and gentle. So whoever wants to try horseback ... that´s the place to get started.
Great place to go horseback riding. Enjoyed the beautiful views and all the extra information from the trail guides. They were all friendly and very helpful.Would go again.
Everyone at Buck's Livery is fabulous, but I would like to single out our guide, Aaron. Aaron is the Superman of trail guides. He could jump off his horse at the speed of light and stomp on a snake or wrestle a bear to the ground if the safety of his trail riders was at stake. Not only that, Aaron is highly knowledgeable about geography, area history, plants and animals. My husband is sort of a know-it-all, and Aaron was able to tell him a few things that even he didn't know. Imagine that! Aaron also has impeccable timing. As the clouds overhead got darker and darker, Aaron timed our ride perfectly so that when the clouds burst open, we were minutes away from the corral and were able to dismount and run for cover. But what really impressed me the most was Aaron's tracking ability. Aaron said he has found lost cameras, wallets and clothing on the trail, so I put him to the test and lost my phone. Exactly one week later Aaron contacted my husband to tell him he had found my phone! And not only did he find it, he returned it fully functioning with a full charge. Needless to say, I would give Buck's Livery an extra five stars, if only I could.
