We visited on Friday, September 12, 2014. In the Fargo-Moorhead visitor's guide book (available for free at the F-M visitor's center) there is a coupon for 1 free admission when you purchase an admission. We we used the coupon and with senior discount the total fee for the two of us was $10.We were the only two people visiting this afternoon so we took our time in each building. This place is huge. It covers many acres. These pioneer building have been moved to this central location from all over North Dakota. There is sensory overload in some of the buildings. For example, the telephone building is bursting at the seams with every piece of telephone equipment, from operator stations with plug-in wires to a huge display of telephone pole glass insulators. Who knew there was this much stuff from early telephone days? The aircraft buildng was quite impressive, also. The antique farm machinery is in great abundance, too.I think you really need more than 3 hours to see everything and appreciate the place.
good atmosphere, fascinating displays, educational, family-oriented, they host interesting and fun family events. I've been there with family several times and we enjoy it every time including their festivals and so on. Definately make a day of it!
This place was recommended to us, and we were glad that we visited. Lots of historical items and buildings, and well-worth stopping for those interested in learning about Fargo and North Dakota history.
Very interesting glimpse into history of 1880-1920 living in Red River Valley. Wonderful collection of buildings and vehicles.
While not a true historical site it is a fun place to visit & has many old things to view- cars, Telephones, planes etc
I visited Bonanzaville back in 2007 and it was not looking so hot. Fast forward 7 years and I found myself visiting again, this time with my in-laws. We got a great deal using coupons from the Fargo-Moorhead Visitors brochure and instantly saw the improvements that had been made. Exhibits are being renovated and signage has been added. There is still a lot to improve upon, but this visit was much more enjoyable than the last.
Nice place to visit, no much going on when we were there.Had several of the employees explain so of the history. Some of the buildings were not open. I would recommend going on a weekend or find out when more things are going on, like pioneer days.
Bonanzaville is a neat little place in West Fargo that was a wide variety of interesting historical buildings. My family really enjoyed walking through them all. They are not all just one type of building. Within each building, it is very cool to see the products, furniture, machinery, etc. that was a part of the history of this area. My daughter also really liked the old airplanes. Overall, it is a nice relaxing, peaceful and informative couple hours. We were also able to meet a past resident of one of the houses and she told us all about it. Very cool.
Nice clean park with a lot of history, mostly local but very enjoyable. expect to spend 2-3 hours if you visit each building. Watch your head as you climb the stairs in the older homes, remember these were built by smaller people and for their use of that time.
We had a couple of extra hours while in Fargo so opted to visit. Depending upon whether or not you have visited similar places it may be more interesting to some. There is a lot of cool things to see and interact with. Our favorite place was the telephone company museum. Our 9 year old was freaked out by the dial phones (from the 70's) and the much older ones that you had to ask the operator to connect you. There is a lot on display here and probably something for everyone.
