This campground is great!!! It is huge and so close to the beach. Big rigs are welcome but bring your "A" game driving in here; and don't even think about showing up after dark. You'll be better off waiting till morning to get in your site. With that being said the campground is fantastic! LOTS of trees and sites are pretty private. Occasional BlackHawk helicopter fly over breaks up the peaceful atmosphere. We did the hiking trail in about an hour and a half and there seams to be s bunch of bike trails kept separate by fences. This place will be a "must come back to" place on our travels we really enjoyed it.
This is a wonderful place to take the family, and it'll only cost you a few dollars per car to get in. This money goes to helping keep it all clean, and there is a small water park for the kids, a beach to play on, and even a park that you can enjoy. It's clean, friendly, and there are always facilities making it easier to take your kids and accomodate them.
This park is amazing. It truly is Florida's best kept secret. Since it is a City Park and not a State Park, it is not booked solid and you can actually get a reservation here. The rates are very reasonable, comparable with the state parks. Also, every site is a full hookup site. This is a big advantage over the state park campgrounds. There are almost 300 campsites. The park is very shaded and the campground is gorgeous with vegetation and shade. The campground is not directly on the beach, but it is a very short 1/2 mile walk or drive over to the beach. And, with the windows open, you can hear the waves crashing from your camper. Dogs are allowed on this beach, too. This is another big plus. All around, we love it and recommend it! It's just a short drive south to find anything you need or want in the way of groceries and restaurants.
We found Hanna Park after searching for state parks to camp in last December. This park is run by the city of Jacksonville and we came away very impressed. The campground was great and all of the spots had a sewer hook up too. Awesome bike trails and kids play areas and beach. Great location for a get away or family vacation.
I took my grandog over to this park so we could have a nice walk on the beach,. It was so much more. The natural beauty just envelopes you , from the the moment you drive through the gates. It cost $5.00 to enter by car and dogs are allowed on a leash to walk the beach and the miles of trails they have. Most beaches in Jacksonville allow dogs only early morning and early evening, so being able to go anytime of day is nice. This park has ponds and wide open spaces and one of the most popular surfing spots "the poles" in its boundaries.
Based on an earlier visit, we recommended this park for our two oldest sons, who were visiting us. One had rented a trailer near his home and the other rented a trailer in Jacksonville, which was towed to their campsite just prior to their arrival. All marveled at the size and privacy of their campsites. They could not see each others rig, despite even though they were in adjacent sites. Reservations are possible in the city park and are recommended, although this is a very large campground.
This park has the ocean, fresh water lakes, camping, hiking and biking trails. The grounds are well maintained.
This is the Best camping beach spot in the Jacksonville Beach area. The beach is large and flat, there is a very large sandbar that encourages wading for all levels of swimmers and non-swimmers alike. The campground is well laid out, the sites are screened well and the amenities are well located. Privacy and convenience at the same time. It is a great mix of Tent and RV sites and limited cabins also available. Big Plus...Water Spray park, Picnic area free...paddle boat, canoe and bike rental. Oh yeah, they have a great selection of bike trails, levels and lengths. Check it out!! Get your provisions before you get there, this was part of the Naval Station Mayport, there are only convenience stores in the area.
We had no idea what this park would be like, but gave it a try. What surprise. Not fun park type, but a super place to just walk the beach, nice hard sand and very few tourists. We took a bag lunch along and sat on a nice picnic area and watched container vessels come in and out of the harbor. Nice bathrooms in this picnic area. Spent several hours and just loved the quiet and great scenery.
Hanna Park is one of the delights of Jacksonville. Don't want the parking hassles and crowds of Jax Beach? Hanna Park features a pristine beach with few buildings, plenty of parking, bike and hiking trails, ponds, and RV parking. Great place to stroll or run. It's nice because although it's undeveloped (e.g., condos, bars), there are restrooms with outdoor showers and picnic shelters. Admission is a small per-car fee, totally worth it!
